Wednesday, June 3rd

TERRY
I talked to Terry yesterday afternoon and she arrived safely to the acute rehab center.  She had only been there a short time so there was not much to say.  She did say she is the only one in her room.  She said the ambulance ride there was OK.  I will be looking forward to talking to her sometime today to find out how much therapy she has and when during the day.  I also want to hear how her night went as in the hospital they would often come in during the night and check but my understanding is that will not be the case in rehab.  I am so hoping that starting today she will have a new and good experience as she starts on her journey to good health.  I should add that I was absolutely happy with the U of MN hospital but I think and am hoping that the rehab setting will be a more pleasant place for her.  At this time I am looking at June 30th as a day she may come home.  THAT is my idea and not from the rehab center.  I KNOW that when she does get home we will have a long way to go to reach good health again but no doubt, Terry can and will do it.

This was in the paper this morning.  It brought back memories of farming.  There were times I could ride with dad when he took a load of grain up to the Geneseo elevator.  The way they determined how much grain you had was you drove the truck onto the large scale and they weighted it.  The truck then remained there and it was lifted into the air and the gain was emptied.  They then weighed the truck empty and that determined how much grain you had.  A bushel of oats was supposed to weigh 32 pounds so if the truck was 4,800 pounds lighter it meant you had 150 bushels of oats.  In this article a farmer was charged with working with two people who worked in the elevator to cheat on the weight.  Over four years they are charged with scamming the business out of $350,000!  When we would go to the elevator dad would always make sure we got out of the truck before they weighed it.  I do not remember the elevator manager but I always felt sorry for him as I thought he had to work all day long in the grain dust which I hated.  He could always communicate with dad but he talked fast and he was a stutter which I felt for him as that was my problem in grade school.

I have no big plans for the day.  I will be waiting to hear from Terry.  I think I may mow the lawn as I put a new blade on yesterday.  IF I mow I will not use the grass bag but let the clippings fall.

We have a wonderful day so I do need to get on the bike for a short ride.  As I write it is 68 and sunny.  We did get .45" of rain yesterday so the garden and lawn should be good for a while.  We should be in the mid 80s for the next several days.  Then a 93 on Monday and a 70 only a week from today.  It even gets lower as a week from tomorrow the high is supposed to be 66!  I have to admit I enjoy the cooler temps rather than the 92 we had yesterday.

Our raspberries are a ways off yet
Terry's Irish flowers are in full bloom.  For some reason many plants died but about 30% are OK
Enough for this morning.  I had my second day of relay coffee.  A quick cup of POD and by the time that is done the FP was ready to go.  As I think about it maybe that is too much coffee in one day but then with the way our world is now I think too much coffee is the least of my concerns!
