TERRY
I talked to Terry twice yesterday. She was kind of vanilla towards her new place, rehab. I think it is really another confusing thing for her. I would have thought the rehab would be a lot better than the hospital, and I still think that, but Terry put them both in the same category. I have hopes that things will settle down and they start to work towards getting her strength back. Her social worker called and we had a long chat. She came across as being on top of things. She gave me the label of "care giver" which I was a little surprised about. In my mind that comes across as if Terry will need much care and for how long?? When I mentioned that down the road we would have to make a decision about staying here to access health care for Terry OR going to Naples where our home is one level and then getting care down there. The social worker said many people put in a stair lift!!! I was not too thrilled to hear her say that BUT we will see how Terry does as time goes on. I am hoping to get a call from someone who is working with Terry as I would like the "lay of the land" so to speak in terms of where Terry is at in her physical state. I am hoping to have more info tomorrow.
PICTURES OF THE DAY
I was finally able to get a hair cut--oh this was not Monday, this was perhaps in 1957 or so. I think Dad got things a little off center. Not sure who had this idea as I am pretty sure Dave did not do this. I do not know what I or Dad was thinking as this is pretty darn goofy. IF I remember shortly after the hair cut it all came off for the summer. I don't think I got a sunburned head and I NEVER wore a cap. I am pretty sure we did not even know what sunscreen was back then. Well we probably thought sunscreen was when you pulled the shades in the afternoon.
I love this picture of Grandma and Grandpa Lee. I am sure it was not always true but it seemed to me that they were always happy. Grandpa had a laugh what would have made the echo in the Grand Canyon sound soft. When Grandpa sat on his little International H tractor he looked like a gentle giant. His laugh was big, his hands were huge and he just came across as an almost bigger than life man. Grandma was pretty much the perfect grandma who always had a hug, a smile and a plate of yummy cookies!
I woke up at 4 AM this morning thinking of my passport. In my mind I put both mine and Terrys in a passport book thing and put them in my briefcase. As I emptied my briefcase yesterday Terry's was there and mine was not. Am I concerned, yes! I just can not imagine it being any place except here or in Naples. I may have to call the guy who looks in on our house and ask him to kind of walk around the house and see if it is somewhere there. Do I need it, no BUT I do not want to lose it.
The carrots and the kohlrabi are NOT up yet. Everything else seems to be doing fine but I am wondering what happen to them. Each day I look and nothing. That reminds me I need to get out this morning and water things.
In mowing I am now 2 for 2 meaning both times I have mowed the lawn the darn battery wore down before I finished. I mean my lawn is not that big so not sure what is happening as the battery is supposed to last 50-60 minutes and I can mow the lawn in about 35. I mowed yesterday as I had put in a new blade and I wanted to see if that made a difference and it made a hug difference. Well it makes sense that if you unintentionally mow some rocks the blade is going to take a beating. Well my pocket book did anyway as the new blade was $24+tax.
As of 6 AM today I have no set plans for the day. Actually I should get out on a bike ride as the temp is a refreshing 60 this morning. It looks like a kind of perfect day with a high of 84 and sunny skies. We could use more rain but that does not look likely.
I stopped at the grocery store yesterday and again I could not believe the lines. Are people afraid that the store is going to run out of things? To go into the local grocery and see up to 50 people waiting to check out just seems kind of crazy. Also the hours are cut so maybe that is the difference. At the store near our home I think the normal hours are 7AM-10PM and now they are 9AM-5PM. I drove to the store yesterday at 5:30 only to find it closed.
Enough for this morning. The FP is gone so time to get up and do something.
