TERRY
Well recovery has its ups and downs and I saw both of them yesterday. I called the nurse in the morning and she had great things to say about Terry. She said Terry was eager to go to PT etc and she wanted to get better so she could go home. THEN about 4:00 in the afternoon the nurse called me and asked if I could talk to Terry. She was having a "not good" afternoon and the nurse thought maybe talking to me would help. We talked, we prayed and Terry seemed to be at a better place. I have not talked to her this morning but yesterday the nurse said she was going to call the doctor and try to get permission to give Terry something so that she could sleep. When I talk this morning I will find out if it happened. We are now on day 63 so Lord grant Terry the spirit of healing.
The Wall Street Journal had some super ideas for Father's Day gifts. I think I am going to pick a few and then in a subtle way give my suggestions to the kids. They may have to team up as there are some items that are a bit expensive but I will give it a try. At this time I can't decide which gift I would like so I need to think about it. BUT my top choices at this time are: gloves with my initials on for only $45 (I have never had gloves with my initials on but that would be cool), the sterling silver first aid box for $615 would be a symbol of ??, the Carhartt jack is certainly a working man's item and for only $400 it may be the best deal or if I decide I really want something nice I will pick the box of tools, which I could use, and that is only $1785. As I ponder my choices maybe I will just settle for a nice card that says I am loved!!! I just get the biggest kick out of the Saturday section of the WSJ where they give gift ideas for different occasions. I think, just maybe, the paper is keyed to a clientele at a different $$ level than myself.
I am kind of thinking about starting the paint job on the kitchen windows. BUT first I need to get in a short bike ride. I did a ride last night and I see where the grocery store has now expanded their hours to 7:00 AM-7:00 PM. That is a total of 4 more hours than the last couple of weeks. Maybe the lines will now be down to 20 or so instead of 40+.
On the days that Travis works he brings home 4 or so papers. It is almost scary to read the kind of things that are going on. I REALLY need to be careful here as I do NOT want to get into social media but really it seems that IF one posts thoughts that are not popular with the current trend that person is criticized or in some cases people have been fired and/or resigned. Not sure where the "free speech in America" comes in but interesting to say the least. I am wondering if there is any conversation going on between people who have different views or if it is kind of the idea that it is "my way or the highway". I would say that the actions of the Minneapolis Police in regard to Floyd were sickening to say it at best BUT for some on the City Council to say they want to get rid of the police department!!!!!! Being in education of 38 years I saw my share of terrible teachers and it was very difficult to get them out of the system, in fact almost impossible, BUT there is usually a way where there is a will. I just have to think there must be a way to rid the system of bad people in a profession be it is education, police, factory workers or whatever. There I said my piece and I don't think I should have offended anyone. Well I would say my blog is not the "in" thing to read so it probably makes no difference what I say.
No, water the garden, go on a bike ride and keep my phone handy in case Terry calls me.
