.15" of rain last night, the garden and lawn are happy

TERRY
I talked to Terry twice yesterday.  She said she was happy I called BUT she sounded pretty down.  She was tired.  She said she had done some PT in the afternoon.  For the most part she was spot on with her mind but she came across as if she did not really care about how things were.  I KNOW that is not true but that was just how she sounded.  I am hoping to hear from some staff today and IF I do not get a call by early afternoon I will call them.  I found the 2 pictures below.  The first one is me on Tuesday as Terry got transferred to rehab.  The second is me after our call yesterday.  I failed to post this and here I am several hours later as it is now 11:45 AM.  The update on Terry from her nurse is she is VERY with it this morning and indicated she wants more PT so she can get stronger.  She declined a second session of speech as she said that was a waste of time!  Go Terry and put your all into therapy so that you can get stronger!  That is the best news I have heard for some time.  Thanks you Lord.

I made a strawberry pie yesterday.  The crust was made of two packages of short bread cookies mixed with butter!  The filling was 2 1/2 pounds of fresh strawberries.  I think it was kind of good.  Of course one had to whip up heavy cream for the topping.

So here we are on the first Friday of June.  I am thinking that I NEED to get some work done around here.  I have the kind of new windows in the kitchen (2 years ago new) that have trim that has to be painted.  The windows themselves are painted but the trim around them is not.  Well I will not say any more about projects as the list would be very long.  I just have such a difficult time getting my mind into anything other than Terry.  Tomorrow she will be starting her 9th week in the hospital/rehab setting.  My heart aches when I think of it and then I think about our call last night and I say IF she was in good spirits I should be surprised.  Lord PLEASE grant her patience, strength, and the courage to keep up the good fight.

I neglected to post this yesterday

I think I am correct when I say that Glorine and Ronald were married June 4th (yesterday) but of course it was in 1961 if I am correct.  I would have just finished 8th grade at the time and for the life of me I do not remember their wedding.  Wow that is 59 years ago.  Glorine seems so young now so she must have been only 12 when they got married.  Oh I guess the picture shows that I am wrong!

The after effects of the Floyd death goes on and on and on.  St. Paul still has a a 10 PM-4 AM curfew and stores have odd hours.  One still sees helicopters flying over in the evening etc.  On the computer last night there was a note from a person who saw a car with blacked out windows and NO license plate driving around the neighborhood.  Will we ever return to what WAS normal?  Not sure but I think of the 9-11 terrorist attacks years ago AND it affects our lives yet today big time.  So time will tell how our culture changes but I have no doubt that it will not return to where we were a couple of weeks ago.

Gail's brother Allen stopped by yesterday for a chat.  I had thought of stopping by their place as I have not seen their home that they moved into last fall.  Sounds like he and Deb are doing well as they settle back into St. Paul where they lived for several years back in the 70s and 80s.  Many of their family are near so they enjoy that.

Wednesday AM Gary D called.  He and his wife live in Rosemount (??).  They moved 2 years ago and I am not sure of the city they live in.  Anyway Gary and I go way back to maybe the early 80s as he was in my men's group and his wife at the time Jan was in Gail's women's group.  The year John graduated from 8th grade Gary headed a fishing trip to Canada.  It was good to catch up.  For some reason we did not get together last summer.

No here it is almost 7:00 and I am sitting wondering what I should do for the day.  I so want Terry home but I know that will not happen for some time and when it does our life may be somewhat different than before she got sick.

I did my coffee relay again today that may just be a new routine for me.  a quick pod cup of coffee as the FP is heating up.  I works for me!
