TERRY
Terry is doing about the same. As I write she is watching Saturday TV which she loves. She just told me she was hungry and ONLY because she is watching a cooking show! No news of her Dr. appointments this week and I will take that as a good sign. That is all.
Helen has a birthday today and she is a few years older than this!!!
Happy birthday Helen and I hope you are not having too many of those jello shots on the golf course today, from a loving brother!
OK so I am playing Santa Claus this August. Terry wanted a picture as I was on my way to the post office to mail the 2022 calendars. Wow, they are now out of the house and that is another project finished. I am not sure what others will think but I am pretty happy with the results of the calendar for next year.
Not much to say today. I did play tennis today and it went pretty well. I will also play next Monday and then on Tuesday again. Getting more playing time as others are out of town is good for my mental health as well as my physical being. If I get invited to play on Mondays or Wednesday it usually is with better players and that is a good thing. At my age if I do not play at least 3 or 4 times a week I can tell it big time.
I will be sad to have the Olympic games come to an end as that has been fun watching. It is so much fun to see many just over joyed at their success after so much work. But of course there is also disappointed ones and that is hard to see. So much work, so much time, so much effort only to fall short.

It was Tuesday and it looked like maybe Dave and I would be in for a shorter day as we were almost finished harvesting the oats on the land to the west and it looked like maybe the wheat would not be ready until next week. We scrambled out of bed before Mom could shout up to us and we were ready for the day. There was a slight breeze from the west which meant we would be able to start harvesting early in the morning. As we finished our breakfast Dad came in and said we would start on the Oats field, what was left of it, by 9:00 AM. The day went fast and by 3:00 PM Dad was driving the tractor and combine in from the field and Dave and I were driving the truck towards the steel bin where we were storing the oats. So it was an exciting day as here were were at 4:00 PM and NO more work to do for the day. Dave and I quickly grabbed towels and wash clothes and headed up to the lake on our bikes for our bath time!!! Such was August 7, 1956

Here I am 65 years later and times have changed. I wake up at 7:15 only to get out of bed and think about getting the paper. As Terry sleeps I quietly exit the front door to get the papers. With papers in hand I get in the house and then push "start" on the FP pot. After a quick drink of FP and making sure Terry has what she needs I head out the door with my tennis racquet for an 8:30 match. After that I am looking forward to mailing the calendars that I have made for family. As I sit here at the computer and think about how life has changed I am almost shocked to think about what was then and what is now. Of course 65 years is a long time but really what was then and what is now is so so so far different that it is almost hard to comprehend.
So here it is a little past 1:00 and really this 74 year old body is kind of telling me that is may be time for a nap!!
