Terry
Terry is still in the rehab center and maybe will be there a few more days. Her condition does not seem to be improving much if any. I talked to her and stopped by to see her twice yesterday. Her spirits remarkably seem to be keeping positive. Of course she would like to be home. For some reason she seems to always be very tire. I did talk to the case manager yesterday face to face. We talked about some places in MN that would be skill centers for her and the case manager said she would be making contacts yesterday afternoon. I also have a couple of calls that I am hopeful of getting answers back today so once again it is kind of a wait and see thing. I am really hoping for some answers today but in this journey for Terry I have found that there are often road bumps.
I have no plans today other than be on the phone some more and see if we can make headway in the care for Terry. I am maybe less than sure of progress today as we are into the weekend. Yes there will be a bike ride or two and a couple of swims but not much else.
I think I will need a nap this afternoon. I think that Terry kind of got times mixed up and called me at 4 this morning. I tried to go back to sleep but with no success. So the mixure of eggs and hash browns are done, the sausage is eaten and the FP is almost gone and here it is only 6:30 AM!!!
In case anyone who looks up the blog and reads beyond the first part about Terry here are some wonderful memories of the past:
Here we are in 2014. Perhaps 2500 miles from home and as one can see at the finish line of the Alaskan Highway at 1422 miles. I think it was like the end of July. On the way we had taken in a wedding, stopped in Jamestown, visited our friend Larry in Havre MT and then headed into Canada. We traveled north through Banff and then connected with the Alaskan Highway where it begins in Dawson Creek British Columbia. We took it the 1422 miles to its ending in Delta Junction Alaska. For sure the 3 month trip was the trip of a lifetime with enough memories to fill a book and then some.
We wanted to get in a day of salmon fishing but when we arrived in Homer we found out that the earliest we could get on a charter was in 5 days so we had time to kill. One of the days was taken up with a boat ride to Seldovia. On the boat ride over we met up with a large raft of sea otters. The captain told us that was a treat as it did not happen that often. Not sure he was being honest or just making us feel like the trip was special! However it was great to see as he stopped the boat and we watched for a while. The babies were lying on the mother's stomach and she was on her back. We spent the day and came back in the afternoon. A fun day. One of the days we spent visiting Tom C and his wife Susie (I think I remember right). Tom and his family lived across the street from us on Niles Ave for many years. He got the boys into biking and as he probably knows cost me a lot of money!! I joke as the biking days were a lot of fun. Many years ago Tom moved to Alaska and I kind of think he is there for good. He and his wife have done photography and have MANY world class photos.
Yes we finally did get out on our day long fishing charter. For Terry and I it was a very fun time. We each caught our limit of salmon and halibut for the day. When we got back to shore there were people to clean and then send them over to be flash frozen and finally then sent home to St. Paul. We had 30+ pounds of fish when we arrived home. It was yummy and some of it ended up in Naples where we ate the last of it. Keeping it frozen on the way down to Naples as we made several over night stops is a story in itself. One camp grounds did not have electric hookup for the sites and really we needed our electric cooler plugged in. It was on when the car was running but not when we were stopped. I took out a 100 foot cord and late at night ran it over to the bathroom where they had plugins for shaving. Then early in the morning I unplugged it and took up the cord. As most people know where there is a will there is a way!
It looks like tennis is on for next week. Karl already has booked courts for two days next week. I am not sure tennis is in my scheduled as we get things in place for Terry but will see.
Enough for this morning. I am going to get in an early bike ride and then maybe spend much time, again, on the phone.
