Happy Mother's Day to all moms

Terry
Some good came about yesterday but also news that was new to me and not so good.  I did talk to Terry twice yesterday and she SOUNDED good each time.  Of course there was some surprises with the good that I heard.  We did have a conversation that for the most part made sense.  She said that she likes the staff at the hospital so that is certainly a plus.  She received a sponge bath with a hair wash under a shower cap.  She enjoyed that.  Towards the end of our talk in the course of back and forth talk she said, Well you remember the two boys in Kim's wedding".   Kim's wedding took place maybe 20 years before Terry and I married!  She said that she felt stronger.  In Naples she could lift a leg maybe an inch off the bed while today she said she was able to lift a leg maybe 5 or 6 inches off the bed.  I asked her how her hand coordination was and she said well you do know that I can't feed myself.  I did not know that.  She said Eric fed her breakfast and then I got somewhat jealous!  Eric sounds very nice over the phone but I kind of hope he is not too young and not very handsome!!!!!   She said she was not going to eat breakfast as she would have a spine tap in the morning and for that she needs to lie on her stomach.  I am not sure she is right about that as I kind of doubt they will do that on Sunday.  Towards the end of our talk she said, "Did you know I have been in the hospital 3 months.  Well I had to say that was not right.  She said well I told the nurse I went in February 4.  She did get the "4" correct but it was April.  When I corrected her she just said, Oh.  She was really happy to get her phone and now it has a 10 foot cord instead of the 3.  I got a SPAM call last night but of course unknowingly at the same time a call came in from the hospital.  By the time the SPAM call was finished I had no idea the other call had come in.  Anyway in the message it sounded like they did an MRI of her head and did not find anything alarming but they did say they will call today.  In our talks she said said nothing about the MRI.  I think that is all for the update.

A picture from last year but it looks like it is pretty much ready for planting again now.  We had a very nice slow rain yesterday and into the night.  The phone shows it was .3".  When I looked at the rain I also glanced at the temp and right now it is 39 so I just had to look at Naples and it showed 72 with a smile.  Well not really with a smile but.
Actually I did get some work done.  I loosened up soil in some of the bare spots in the lawn and put seed down.  Shortly after I came into the house the rain came.  I felt it was one of the first things done for a long time.  More later I think but it may be too wet today to do anything.  The trees and the lawn are starting to look green but this rain will really be good for things to move along.

I hope all the mothers have a fun Mother's Day.  I know that this day of the year is always one of the BIGGEST of the year for eating out but not this year of course.  I have fond memories of our Mother's Day brunches of the past.  One year we had brunch on the top floor of the IDS building which was fun.  Another year we had brunch at a golf course south towards Hastings and another time it was on a river boat out of Stillwater.  Terry and I are low key on this day.  She being a mother had nothing to do with me so it is usually a hug, a kiss ad and that is it.  Well as one knows this year it will be a phone call!

I still feel tired and I am guessing I need a few more good nights of sleep.  The last two nights have been good but maybe a couple more will do the trick.

One certainly could ask why in the world would he put that picture on today.  Well I had a dream last night (it was not a nightmare) and it was about a high school basketball game and it included the long bus ride home after the game!  Kind of a fun dream!  As I was looking at the pictures on the computer for something to put on the blog I saw this and it reminded me of my dream.  Sometimes the bus rides were almost as fun as the game!!!

Here are Terry and Norma.  I think this was a year or two ago.  Their smiles tell it all.  I think each of them think the world of the other.  Norma and Wayne came down to Florida this winter and then visited us.  I think it may have been the highlight of the winter for Terry (other than living with me!).  At times like this especially friends are so so important.

Here is brother Dave at our get together last summer in Jamestown.  As I look at this I say to myself with the hat he certainly still has a sense of humor, at least I hope it was with a sense of humor!

For the fun of it I added up the ages of everyone.  By the end of this year the total will be 681 I think.  Let me see, 681 divided by 9 comes to almost 76 so if anyone happens to read this you will know if you are above or below average!  This may make you happy, sad or it may make you question my sanity.  In the US the male life expectancy is 76.1, the female is 81.1 and just so you know in Japan the life expectancy is 89.1 but for all of us moving to Japan probably is not in our thoughts!  I might add that as I look at this I am happy and proud to be part of such a great group of people and yes we missed Glorine being there.  Just to be nice I should add that of the entire group Helen is the baby and I think one could actually know that by looking at the picture!  I say baby BUT if you know her age as of this August you know she is FAR from the age of a baby!!!

I only have about 50,000 pictures so I could go on but will stop.  At 50,000 or so I probably am still way behind Dad in quantity.  AND I know I am way way behind in knowing anything about photography as I can still visually see Dad sitting by the kerosene stove in the living room reading photography magazines OR gun ones as I said good night and RAN upstairs to the cold bedroom.  I think much of his reading took place in the winter time.

I woke up too early this morning but could not go back to sleep at 5:20 so got up.  No breakfast yet but I do have the POD coffee.  I had better not drink too many as I think they are about $.72 a pod and then maybe a T of heavy cream at about $.08 so that brings it up to $.80.  Now IF I drink 3 a day that comes to $2.40 which tells me I had better cut out some of the eggs or sausages I like.  Got to conserve that money if I want to be like the Japanese and live to be 89+.

I looked at the weather in Naples and it is currently raining.  Before we left the forecast was for several inches of rain by early next week.

I put this on today in honor of Mom.  The look on her face tells it all, what kind of mother she was.  You can tell she is proud and happy that the meal she prepared is making  Dad happy.  She was a wonderful mother and I often think back and am disappointed in myself as I know I did not appreciate her like I should have.  I have a big smile on because it was my birthday and I was given permission to invite my friend Larry for an overnight.  AND yes I appreciated Mom's food as well.  Enough for this morning.  I will stay by the phone to hopefully hear how Terry is today.

No FP again but the POD will do for now.
