A quiet house, maybe too quiet!!!

Day 36, "Every picture has a story"

We had shoes to boot!!!  As one can guess this picture was taken a LONG time ago.  Perhaps in the early 70s.  I am guessing they were worn by John, Travis and Aaron.  At that time in our lives it seemed that someone always needed a new pair of shoes.  Dad was going to work in his boots so he thought it fitting that a picture was taken of shoes to boots.  As the boys got older it seemed that every week someone had a hole in the toe of his shoe.  Those darn Tonka trucks were the cause or maybe, just maybe, it was the action of the boys which seemed to NEVER stop.  I perhaps complained but for sure would not have wanted it any other way.

We said good-bye to the South Bend Lees this morning.  With an 8-9 hour drive they were up and at things early and hit the road about 6:45.  With 6 people and a dog along with camping gear and a whole bunch of other things their van was loaded from front to back and top to bottom.  Along with all the suitcases and gear they had 2 chain saws, a cooler of food and who knows what else.  I have pretty much checked the entire house and have not found one item that was left behind.  We even got them to take Elspeth's birthday present so we do not have to send it.

At this time, about 8:25, it looks like there is barely a foot print of extra people and a dog having been here for 36 hours.  Oh there are a few small digs in the back yard where Suka was but they can be fixed in a jiffy.  They were troopers as John/Mary slept on a mattress on the floor and a couple of the kids did likewise.  At this point the upstairs is in "rehab" so the accommodations were not ideal but they did fine.  Liam lived up to the "Lee teenager standard" as he did not eat meals but rather grazed most of the time!  While Henry ate two or three helpings of food Liam ate one and then hit the fridge a short time later.  That is what teenagers are supposed to do, right?

After the whirlwind of activity for a few days it is back to the same old, same old which is rehabbing this old old home.  No complains, just facts kind of.  I have HIGH hopes for the fans today so will see.

My three pots of FP yesterday was down to two today as John, Mary and I had some and then John had one for the road.  On to the days events which should prove exciting for sure.
