A big cool down

Day 39, "Every picture has a story"

Well I guess I have two pictures today.  AND it is a BIG story for me.  An electrician I am NOT.  To make makers a lot worse this house was wired about 110 years ago and for the most part has not been upgraded.  That means not 3 wires but 2 and no color, just black.  Well when you throw in my lack of talent in the subject it only spells trouble but hold on there is a success story to be told.  After MUCH delay, some due to schedule and some due to procrastination, I hit the job yesterday with the intent to be successful or pay a hired gun so to speak.  Well the story is SUCCESS.  After a couple weeks of, blood (yes in Carmen's world a job always includes a finger prick or a cut with the red stuff involved), sweat but really no tears the job was done and it works and looks great.  The long version of this story is this fan is on the south side of the living room and there is still one to be put up on the north side!  Today will tell IF I have learned how to do it.  If anyone needs a fan installed in your old house, do NOT call me!!!

We are in for a July cool down.  With current July normal temps in the mid 80s we are looking at the next 4 or 5 days in the 70s.  That will suit me fine.  We could use some rain but not sure it is coming for a while.

No I need/want to get on Bentley for a ride today and then it is on to that fan.  Paul, who is painting the upstairs, Terry who is supervising the summer work and I all think the stairs going to the second floor need to be replaced.  Well I could be honest and say they HAVE to be replaced.  Yikes I say as I look up the price of new hard maple treads and new risers.  I took a tread off yesterday and planed the top down to be level and it looked NOT good.  There went the hope of using the old ones.  The risers are not an issue as I can use clear pine because we will be painting them but maple treads 38 1/2" in length, 10 1/2" width and 1" in depth cost a bit more than a lunch or two at the Golden Arches! With 16 steps up (and 16 down too👷!) it becomes a bit spendy.

FP is gone.
