It has been 21 days in Naples now.

Day 21, "Every picture has a story"
I am sure this picture was taken in the winter of 51 or 52.  At that time there were no hay stack movers so in the winter we would take the hay rack south and then turn right towards Rollof's farm.  Our alfalfa field was across the road from their farm.  With pitch forks in hand we would load the hay rack with hay and then drive home.  Our barn was all on one level with the "hay barn' on the north end.  Up high on the north wall were two doors that opened up so that a person could throw the hay into the barn.  I do not remember how often we had to get hay but we had to put some in the barn for the calfs and then also open the gate and drive into the barn yard to feed the cattle that were outside.  When it was milking time we would put the cows, (usually 5 or 6) into the stanchions and then give them some hay.  The barn was almost a magical place in the winter.  As one entered from the frigid cold you could feel the warmth from the cattle and the aroma was one of sweet hay and cows which I liked.  Before we had electricity the glow from the kerosene lantern would cast a glow from side to side and up and down as one walked towards the milk cows.  I am kind of amazed that with hay all over the place and kerosene lanterns carried and hung there never was a fire.  All it would have taken is a slip and the lantern could have fallen on the hay and presto--up goes the barn.  I could write about the sparrows that would line the beams of the barn at night in the winter but maybe that is another story!

The work on the windows and french doors was finished mid afternoon yesterday.  The windows are cleaned but the company supervisor who came on Thursday cautioned us that men do not do the same window cleaning job as women!  There are stickers on the windows that MUST stay on until the inspection takes place.  That will happen next week.  I guess the county needs to come and make sure the windows are installed properly and also that they are hurricane safe.  The law now states that ALL new windows must meet hurricane safety standards.  The supervisor warned us that the stickers MUST stay on until after the inspection.  IF they are taken off he has to order new stickers and then put them on and have the inspector come again and I am guessing the cost of that would fall on the home owner!

Terry and I are going to go to a play this afternoon.  I am so Uncultured that it is awful so I will try to improve myself a bit this afternoon.

I will not play tennis this weekend.  I think my body needs to take a rest.  Actually it is more sore from my ridiculous bike fall than tennis.  But still it will be good to have a couple of days off and let some of those muscles (I still have some!) get unsore!!!

No, the FP is finished and it is on to the business of the day.
