Here we are at mid week of the first full week of 2021

 TERRY

I will make Terry's story short today.  She is awake and almost finished reading the paper.  At 1:00 this afternoon she has the third session of five for the week.  Yesterday the OT person did an evaluation and then today she is in the water again.  We will try to walk a bit before we get into the car at 12:40 this afternoon.

Summer of 1957 to NOW

Today as I was trying to wake up and get out of bed at 7:00 this morning my mind went back to the summers of 54, 55, 56, 57 etc.  One of my favorite things to do was climb the light pole by the barn door and get onto the roof of the barn.  I would then walk over the top to the west side of the roof and lie down.  There I would stare up towards the sky and try to spot a vapor trail from an airplane.  

When I could do that I would ask myself, "Where are they going and will I ever be able to go to far away places like where they may be headed?"  As I took several minutes to wake up I kind of answered that question:

• IF that plane was headed to California I have been there several times while camping and it is a fun place to visit.
• IF that plane was headed to Alaska for sure I have visited there and spent more than a month enjoying the wonderful land and animals there.
• IF that plane was headed to Florida for sure I AM there!
• IF that plane was headed to Europe well I have visited Italy for a week and felt it was a super place to visit.
• IF that plane was headed to Canada yes I have been there several times.
• I wonder what states it is going to but then I have visited all 50 states so I am lucky.
• WELL if it happens to be headed to Asia, South America or Africa I have not been there but then at the ripe old age of almost 74 there may still be time!

Finally I was awake enough to contemplate getting out of bed BUT.  Before I threw back the sheet and got out of bed I kind of said to myself "I think I am a pretty lucky guy!"  AND one last thought.  As I put the water on for FP I stepped a little lighter as I felt that the sadness of the last many months MAY give way to an upbeat future.

So I have all morning as we got bumped out of morning tennis so we will play at 3:00 this afternoon. Terry and I should arrive home after her therapy by 2:00 or so and that means I will have plenty of time to get to tennis by 3:00.

Sonia should be here any time and I was careful to leave plenty of messes in the house so she can keep busy!!!  The FP is history for today and I am ready to go!
