On the road again!

Day 82, "Every picture has a story"

I am leaving this picture small as the quality is not great and that is unusual for pictures from Dad.  It may have been from the way I copied it too.  Regardless this is Mom and I don't know who but I would guess it is Ronald.  If not it has to be Dave or myself.  I like it for a couple of reasons.  It is the front door as I remember it.  Later they changed the front door to the south side of the house.  But best of all you can see the shed/garage in the back ground.  A storm blew it down around 1955 or so.  All I know is Joan, Dave and I were still going to Wood Lake School as we RAN home after the storm because from school we could not see the wind charger which was on top of the house.  As you look at the picture the window is the living room.  To Mom's right is the front door and as you entered the entry way the cream separator was on your left.  After every every milking Mom had to heat water to wash the separator.  From there you could hang your coat and then enter the kitchen.  Maybe someone from this weekend can identify the boy.

Terry and I will be on the road about 9:30 or so today.  We will head west on I 94 until 330 miles later we exit towards Jamestown.  It will be so fun to see Judi (with an "I"), John, Joan, Ron, Marlys, Dave and Helen.  Am so disappointed that Glorine can not make it but 9 of 10 is not bad for "use old folks"!

Yesterday we did get some work done and Terry had her last dental appt for at least the next several months.  The back entry is about finished.  The floor guy, who said maybe he could make it this weekend, let me know that no, he will be here Monday.

So the water putty is put away.  The prime is put away.  The chalk is put away.  The oil base paint and the water base paint is put away and we are almost ready to hit the road for THREE days off.  I enjoy travel and seeing the sights as one drives rural MN and ND.  I do wish we were pulling our camper for a few days but another time, not now.  Terry and I were talking last night about the house.  The transformation in the last 3 years is amazing and so fun to see.  BUT there is still so much more to do so celebrations need to be toned down and one needs to be realistic in what is here.  A house that is 112 years old that served for so long with little or no upgrade is one long story but there is light at the end of the tunnel for sure.

Picture 83 will appear on Sunday or Monday morning as I sip my FP.  For the next three days it will be conversations, stories (all true of course) and I am sure a lot of laughter.  There may even be some tears but hopefully they will be few if any.  If Dad were still here we would hear his loud laugh and if Mom were here you would see her sweet smile.
