Day 80, "Every picture has a story"
We moved into 2094 Niles in the fall of 1977. It did not take us long to realize that we needed/wanted to make some changes. As one can see the white picket fence was not very fancy and besides as the boys started using the west and east posts for soccer goals the pickets did not prove very durable! So the first to go was the hedge that is mostly gone here. Then it was the fence that needed to go. The boys were a BIG help. I was relieved when I thought about NOT having to paint the fence. Of course that did present some problems. Often the ball would end up in the yard to the west or to the east. Actually Joe, who lived to the east got the boys playing soccer so his family had NO complaints when the ball would go there. We kind of lucked out as there were no broken windows ever. There are times now where I kind of wish we had a fence as I see neighborhood dogs using our yard for a bathroom but....
Little by little there are some things happening here on Niles ave. Yesterday, before Terry's appt, she finished painting the back entry woodwork and I put the second and final coat on the living room walls. We had some extra furniture in the basement and in the den. I took the basement chairs out to the garage yesterday and Travis helped me carry a couple of pieces out to the garage this morning. Terry's son Brian says he will be in town this weekend to get things.
Travis and I went to THE COFFEE CUP again for breakfast this morning.
Again the food was good BUT so so so much. I ate about 1/3 of it and the rest will be Thursday breakfast. I think I am finished with THE COFFEE CUP for this season! They must have gotten a good deal on bread as I was served FOUR slices!
On a scale of 1-100 I would rate our rain yesterday a 125! It started raining in the morning and rained into the night with a total of 1.2" I think 100% went into the grass and flowers. No watering for a while. Actually NONE until we return from our weekend trip to Jamestown. Sisters asked if we could bring cucumbers and tomatoes for the salad so we are keeping them watered but after this weekend there may not be any more garden work except digging up old plants.
I am enjoying my FP late today. I ordered coffee at breakfast this morning but for sure it does not hole a candle to my FP so I HAD to have a pot when I got home. So far today I have gotten a little work done in door knobs back on and etc. Those little things are so difficult to get to and finish. Often as I put hardware back on the doors the screws are loose etc so it is always interesting to say the least.
I ordered a battery powered belt sander yesterday. It seems that so many tools are now battery powered. They certainly are nice and easy to use but you do pay a premium for them. The thing about them is you look and say "wow that is a good price" and then you read the fine print and it say, "tool only" which means you pay again for a battery. I have never purchased batteryless tool and then tried to use it and my thought is it would not work very well!!!
No, it is past the time where I should be getting more work done so will take a sip of FP, sign off and get to work.
