A day with friends from Hudson WI/Naple FL

Day 86, "Every picture has a story"
This leaf is one of a kind but is telling us that fall is near!  Sometimes I feel like this leaf.  I would say that perhaps my siblings could be saying the same thing but today I feel like I am this leaf.  Here is why:

  • I was born on a farm but NEVER felt the desire or need to live that life.  One could say it could be many reasons.  It could be that I was just not meant to be a farmer.  It could be that Dad was NOT the ideal farmer and therefore did not instill the desire in his children.  It could be that our farm was just not a great farm and therefore did not give any of us the desire to be a farmer.  Maybe, just maybe it does not make any difference!
  • I think, often, outside of the box.  AND that box is the world of course.
  • Maybe everyone is like this but I, for sure, often feel like I am the lone ranger at times in the way I do things and the way I think about things.  One time in high school the math teacher asked me to go to the board and do a problem.  I knew how to do it but in getting there the teacher laughed and asked Larry to come up and do it.  He finished it in less then a minute while I was several minutes into it!!!  BUT I did get the right answer.
  • I often hear people say how hard something is and then say that just can not be.  My saying is not that it can't be but rather HOW should we do this.  I could add that it often gets me in binds!
  • Enough of the lone leaf BUT there are two windows open in the kitchen as they get painted and I would say those windows had better get in soon as it is cool with this fall weather.
Pete finished the floors yesterday and did some touch up on floors up stairs.  Now it is a matter of getting things back in the room but that should wait until tomorrow.  The floors look good for a 112 year old house I think.  Pete said the wood today is just not the same as way way back then.  I should add that he gave us, what we considered, a great price.  He said that was because earlier in the summer when he did the upstairs I gave him a big tip.  I rounded up from an ending of 75 cents to a dollar!

We drive to Hudson WI this morning to visit friends.  They sold their home a few years ago and then just had their Naples home but last year they purchased a smaller condo and they love it.  It will be fun to see it and then we will go out for lunch.

No I have to make a decision this morning. Do I finish caulking the stairs or continue on the kitchen windows.  I just wrote that because I like to use the correct word CAULK!!!  That has to get done and paint has to go on before Sunday.  My FP today tastes a little bit like I think heaven would be BUT I don't want to go there yet!
