A tiny bit of "what if?"

For sure my day started with a "what if?"  Terry and I have decided that there will be NO camping this summer as the home begs for more and more work so this morning I had to have my FP in a camping tin cup just to sense the feel of camping.  Did it work?  Not really!  BUT the FP with a tad of Baileys in and certainly started the day right.

Day 77, "Every picture has a story".

For sure there are 100's of stories that could be attached to this picture.  Here are the families of Lawrence and Halvor.  The kids are Mary, Gayle, Helen, Joan, Joyce, Lenay, Janet, Marvin, Jerry, Ronald, Dave and I.  I post this as it is Joan's birthday today.  Of the grandchildren Ronald, Janet and Jerry are not with us any more.  I am thinking this was taken after Robert died.  The stories could be about games at night, Grandma's cookies, Christmas time, hunting, walks in the pasture at Grandma and Grandpa's place, digging potatoes with Grandpa plowing up the rows, digging horse radish in the trees, eating Grandma's awful oatmeal, picking berries, enjoying an apple in their orchard and of course each topic has a story to go with it.   Good memories but of course there is tragic events in there too.

I decided to get in a short bike ride this morning.  The cool crisp air was welcome as I opened the door with my bike in hand.  I had walked past a 5 gallon container of sheetrock mud, 5 containers of paint waiting to be used, a step that needs to be repaired and a ceiling that begs for repair.  No wonder the cool crisp air was so welcome!!!  My ride was short but fun.  It seems that every Labor Day weekend the neighborhood becomes a ghost town.  I mounted my bike at 6:00 and there was not a soul around.  Well there were the busy squirrels but no people.  It was a peaceful, quiet ride that was so enjoyable.  Today may be a down day but we need to pick up the pace around here soon.  We are now about 29 days before take off for FL and beaches and tennis and walks and books.  Another way to say it is not much work for several months starting in October.

Much of the "cutting in" for the living room is finished so I suggested to Terry that we leave things as they are and that would give the room "character".  She opted for beauty rather than character so it will be more painting tomorrow.  Less work, I gave it a try but to no success.  I am saying that Tuesday evening the painting will be finished in the living room.  After that the floors need to be done and then things can be moved in again.  In a couple of weeks it should be back to normal if the word normal is anywhere in this house.

I should mention that as I left on my bike this morning it was kind of cloudy and dim light.  The lawn looked GREAT.

We will have company on the 16th and again on the 18th so Terry and Carmen get your act together sooner rather than later for sure.

Enough for this morning as my FP is totally gone and my typing hand is tired.
