 TERRY

Terry is doing OK today.  She was awake by 8:15 and has been awake the rest of the day.  She has a very nasty rash on her neck so we need to keep an eye on that.  Very red and ugly looking and I have no idea what could have caused it.  IF it does not clear up in the next couple of days we will have to go to Urgent Care to get it looked at.

Not really much today.  I did play tennis at 9:00 and actually played kind of good.  Perhaps the best I have played for some time.  I do have a 30 minute lesson tomorrow and then a match right after that.

I went to Costco today for a short trip.  I wanted to get a couple of things for Terry to eat.  I brought home a roasted chicken and she ate some.  She wanted some celery mixed with mayo with it and she said it was good.

Here it is almost 5:00 PM and the day seems to have just zipped by.

THE GLOVE

Dave and I liked to play catch, hit the ball around and at times when we could get Dad to hit fly balls we were in heaven.  Well I had this old small tatted glove and wanted a new one in the worst way.  I felt I would be a much better player IF I could get a new glove, one that was modern!  It was mid summer and Rollof came into the yard on a Monday and asked if Dave and I could help him bale hay.  He liked to pull a wagon behind the baler and then bring the bales right up to the yard and into the barn.  Dad kind of begrudgingly said we could help him that afternoon.  I saw my chance!!!  Dave and I helped Rollof for several hours and the next day we each had $10. in our pocket and I knew for sure where it was going.  Ronald had told us that he would be coming home to visit that weekend and I had a plan.  Ronald did come on Friday night and I did not waste any time.  I pulled out the $10 bill and showed it to Ronald and asked if he could buy me a baseball glove with it when he got back to Ellendale.  I did not think they would have a good one in Lidgerwood and for sure not in Cayuga.  Ronald said he would look and he was thinking that he may be back in a couple of weeks.  That was the longest 2 weeks I had ever experienced!  But he did come back on a Saturday and sure enough he brought a brand-new baseball glove and I thought it was beautiful.  Over the next many years I used it whenever Dave and I played catch and even when I played on the baseball team as a freshman in high school.  It was a GOOD glove.  But I am sure If I were to put it beside a modern glove today it would look like an antique and perhaps it is as it is tucked away in a box in the attic off of the east bedroom on Niles Ave.  It is funny because if one of the grandkids would to look at it they would think it was old old old just in the same way as Dave and I compared it in the 50s to a glove we had from the 20s!  That kind of reminds me that I am perhaps an antique as well!  The glove gave me hours and hours and hours of enjoyment on the farm as we played ball against the corncrib, on the lawn from the house to the mailbox and yes also against the south side of the barn!

LeeAnn brought some potatoes salad over and darn it so very good.  I was trying to NOT eat some much today as the scale has not been kind to me but of course it was impossible to not eat a generous helping after she left.  Maybe today as well!

Of course I had my FP this morning and maybe that was the reason for the good tennis.  Wait, I have it everyday and some days I play awful!

Enough and the stock market was good to me today.  I gained the $1.98 that I lost yesterday!

I paid $10 at least I gave Ronald that and I just assumed that is what it cost but maybe not!

This glove is priced at $229----I think I will pass!
