TERRY
Every once in a while Terry has a day where she is tired and she sleeps a lot or at least is in bed with her eyes closed. Well that was yesterday. During parts of the day she had her eyes closed and then about the time of the day, 9 PM, that she is usually awake with a show on TV she was turned over in bed with her eyes closed again. As I write she is reading the Sunday paper.
Darn darn double darn. As I stepped on the scale this morning I was UP a tad. Not much but still the numbers were in the wrong direction. That means I need to be double good today and get back on track. I suspected I may be in trouble as I just ate too much yesterday and did not have tennis. Regardless one day is not the end of the world so am hopeful that tomorrow brings good luck again. Have I lost a LOT of weight? No, but IF I go down to some degree each day the end result will be good.
Another darn darn. Terry's daughter Kim asked about the availability of Terry's car that is in the garage in St Paul. Kim will be going to Minnesota next Thursday. Well Travis took a picture of the license plate and the tabs are expired June of 2021. I spent much time yesterday looking for new tabs as I found a half piece of paper telling me I had ordered them. But to no success. Something is no right as the tabs show July 2021 but the paper shows that the new tabs were supposed to be good until January of 2022. I will have to call the DMV in MN Monday to see what is going on.
As one could guess Terry and I will be doing nothing special for the 4th. I can remember back to 4ths long ago and we often would drive to near the capital in St. Paul and watch the fireworks. Here, in Naples, they will have a huge fireworks at the Naples pier tonight. Terry and I have gone to that and it is always pretty spectacular.
pictures of the day
Here is sister Janet second from the right in her cheerleading uniform. She must have graduated from Lidgerwood HS in 1955 or 1956. Here we have sisters Helen and Janet with niece Esther. I can tell it was taken on our farm as you can see the slides on top of the piano! Here is the end of Dad's time in Veblen. He had an auction sale and sold pretty much everything he had including the HOUSE. He was able to pocket around $9,000 AND that did include the sale of the house. I was there for the sale. I purchased a device that one could look at slides with. When I got home and used it the device did not work!!! I think I was out $3! Dad did keep his camera things and his guns IF he had any left. At that point he may have given all of them away.
At that point Dad went to Fargo and stayed with Joan/Ron for some time but really he needed his own place so he moved into an assisted living place where he lived until his death in the spring of 1997. I am guessing this sale took place in 1995 but am not sure of that.
The weather again shows NO rain for today but then starting Monday there are chances of rain varying from 80% to 50%. It looks like the hurricane, that is kind of headed this way, may bring us a lot of rain starting late Monday. IF that is all it brings that would be good!
We are back to Dakota Attitude
Another story. This little first grader, his family came from Norway. And one day he left his overshoes out on the steps of the school, and I told him he had to bring them in because dogs might come and get them. And he says, "On, I can't." And he kept on saying that many times. And I said, "well, you won't have any overshoes to go home with. I said, "Why can't you?" The boy said "Well, because they've got manure on them." He wasn't gonna mess up the school. He was in the barn before school and so they weren't clean.
In 1935, Cecil married James Loe from rural Pekin. Well the first year we were married we lived with his folks. They had a little house, right in the yard. At first, if the cream check did not cover the groceries, you put the groceries back because you couldn't pay for them.
I think that is about it for the day. I have my FP which is almost finished but have to make a decision IF I will look farther for those tabs for Terry's car. I suspect they are in MN so will let that go.
