It is hump day AND with a SW Florida temp this morning at 45!!!

 TERRY

Again as I write Terry is reading the paper.  There is nothing on the menu of life for today and I think that is a good thing as that knee is still very sore.  I am waiting for a call from the MRI place but if it does not come I will call this afternoon.

OK so it is 45 and the heat is on in the house for the first time in a long time.  I looked at my phone and places like South Bend, Sandy, Havre, Rapid City and Jamestown are ALL in the freezing zone so I will not complain.  Holiday Island is close with 34 so a 45 here is nothing to be upset about except when I get on the tennis court at 9:00 it still may be less than 50 and that is somewhat chilly until one gets warmed up by playing.

I miss our pool as the pump went out and it is not useable.  I think it has been a week or so now.  I talked to the guy who is fixing it and he did not know when a new one would be coming.  It is under warranty so that is a good thing.

I almost lost my temper on the court yesterday.  My partner and I were playing against two others and one of them I had never played with or against before.  He hit a long shot that was OUT by an inch or so.  When I called it out he got up set as he thought it was in.  When I looked at the mark I said, "It was close but it was out by about an inch".  As he turned away he said something like "I could see that it was inside the line by that much!".  NOT a good thing to say.  I invited him to come look, which is a NO NO in tennis but he declined.  Nothing more was said and I held my tongue.  I actually decided to be a good sport and later complimented him on a good shot.  The match went on without any further disagreements.  By the way a Cardinal rule in tennis is you can ask your opponent to look for the mark but you can NEVER go across the net to check it yourself.

I think I am going over to the courts a bit early today as I have not been in the pro shop for a long time.  Phil asked me the other day on the court how I was as he said he and Myke had not seen me for a while.  With this virus going around I guess one must wear a mask in the shop.

I need to start making cards for 2021.  I have two left for this year and they are John's and Benedict's cards that are waiting to be mailed when the time comes.  IF anyone asks Benedict when his birthday is he will tell you that it is the same as Jesus'.  John turns 52 this year and I can hardly remember what life was like at that age for me.  Well I guess I can but it does seem a long time ago.

I am going to close for today.  Something in my spirit is rumbling around that seems like I should write today but it is not coming to mind right now so will close and maybe it will come to the surface later today.  I actually have an entire cup of FP left so maybe will stay on the computer until it is time to get dressed for tennis which comes up in about 35 minutes.

Before I go I will add one of my favorite all time pictures.

When we lived in Devils Lake one of our favorite places to go for an outing was Sullys Hill.  It was a preserve south of town and enclosed in a fenced in area that was huge were deer, bison and elk.  Here the GUYS are watching the bison as they were pretty close.  AND how about that fancy 4 door hardtop with the 400 engine AND an 8-track!!  By the way this was in early summer of 1974.  I know it was a few years ago!  BUT the picture is great I think!
