Kind of like a bad day at the office!

The white flag went up in the middle of set 2!  OK so we were well behind the eight ball so to speak. We had lost the first set big time (no score need be told!) and were behind in set 2 a bit.  My partner, Elton, had major heart surgery last year and the conditions were NOT conductive to his health.  The humidity was high and the temp was at least upper 80s if not in the 90s.  I should have known from the get-go as he returned the first serve of the match into the net and that is NOT at all like Elton. About mid first set he needed to take a rest after each game.  Normally one can take a quick rest each two games as people change sides.  Our pro was watching and he called me over and encouraged me to talk to Elton and perhaps end the match.  NO tennis match is worth endangering ones health.  I approached Elton as he was serving and asked how he was.  He said, "Let's finish this game".  So as he hit the next ball into the net "game over".  Of course I hated to end the match like that BUT one has to be more concerned about well being than what the score is in a game.  If someone is reading this and thinking that our match was all about Elton and his health/play that is not true.  I make more than my share of mistakes on the court and as one always says, "you win as a team and you lose as a team."  We lost all 3 courts which was more than a bummer.  Rich and Karl played a great match but they just fell short.  Jack and Jack played well on court three but they too fell to defeat.  I was totally "down" after the match but in reflecting on my 3 guys who were not available I guess we gave them a good fight.  In putting out the players for next week I got a message that one of my best players will not be here next week either.  He is returning to Michigan to be involved in the care of his mother.  I guess that is a good reason to miss tennis, right?
So a season that started out with so much hope, so much success and 5 straight wins is now in a slump of 3 straight losses and we only have two more matches to go.  Just hold on, I THINK I am still having fun!!!
We have today yet with temps in the 80s and then 3 days of 70s coming.  BUT wait, we then look at perhaps 6 days of 80s again!
I think I have tennis at 9:00 this morning.  I say that because Elton is on and I am not sure he will be up to play today and there is another question as well so I will venture over to the courts with tennis bag in hand and bike for transportation and then see what happens.
The WSJ today has some interesting articles about the democrat primaries.  At this time they are saying the main stream democrats are not embracing socialism with Bernie but instead are leaning, big time, towards Biden.  Warren is home evaluating where she is.  I am thinking she is on the way out as she came in third in her own state.  I would say that tells a lot.
Breakfast consisted of a bagel with egg, ham and cheese so along with a large cup of FP I am on the go and good for the day.
