Good Friday is here

 TERRY

Really not much about Terry today.  Well maybe that is not true.  Over the last several days she has gone back and froth from the bedroom and the living room and has NOT used the wheelchair as she has only used the walker.  Today she wanted to get something and got out of bed and walked, without help a couple of steps.  I would say that is progress BUT not sure it was a good idea as I know if she were to fall that would NOT be good.

I do not have much to say today.  Here we are it is Good Friday and in less than 48 hours we can say HE IS RISEN, PRAISE THE LORD.  I do have the things for our Easter Sunday meal.  No ham this year but rather a standing rib roast with side dishes.  As with most people we will be alone as I think it is still a bit early to be gathering in groups.

I really do not remember much of Easter Sundays growing up.  I do know that we would have to be sure to wear out best Sunday clothes and I think Dad then usually took a family picture.  I am wondering what happened when we were still in Bergen Church.  We only had church every other Sunday as the paster always had services in Veblen and then one of the two country churches.  Did we then sometimes not go to church on Easter Sunday?  I do not remember.  Of course we could have, at any time, gone to Veblen but I think we never did that. I am guessing that there were times that siblings came home for Easter Sunday but again I do not remember.

This is Lilia who worked in my learning lab at the School for the Deaf in Devils Lake.  She came as a new employee in the fall of either 1974 or 1975.  I was working as a Title 1 person and that allowed me to have an aide and also we were able to order many things for the classroom.  I put her picture here because she is still working at the school and has been since she started.  She sent the picture that I posted yesterday.  I may have said this in the past but not sure.  Several years ago Terry and I stopped at the school on one of our trips.  I asked at the desk if Lilia was working that day and they said she was in her office which was in the basement of the building.  Terry and I took the steps down to the basement  and saw a light coming out of a room down the hall.  As we walked towards the room with the light shining into the hallway I said in kind of a loud voice, "Is Lilia Bakken there?"  She recognized my voice!!!  It was pretty fun to talk to her again after about 40 years!  As you may be able to see she is not the young lady who first came to work at the school but then I kind of forget I am not the young man I was back then either!
Enough for today.
