 TERRY

Terry continues to NOT use the wheelchair at home.  She should, perhaps, walk more than she does but still leaving the wheelchair in the corner and using the walker when she is up to me is a big deal.  We have NOT crossed the subject of therapy as she does not want to go any more even though she only has like 3 or 4 sessions left.  WE will see.

Not much to say today.  I do have tennis at 10:30 and that is about it.

I have some sunglasses that were not cheap but now they seems to be getting something on the lenses that does not want to come off.  Don't know what that is.

FROM THE BOOK

"Penny was explaining about a Catholic boy and a Lutheran girl who married. ""The mother was telling someone, "I don't know if I like this mixed marriage.  The other person said, "You mean being a Catholic and a Lutheran?"  NO, the boy belongs to the Farm Bureau, and the girl belongs to the Farmers Union"  I should add that these are real stories and not jokes that someone made up!  A fun book.  I can relate to this story as we went to Farmer's Union meetings monthly which were held at Wood Lake School.  I also have first hand experience with the Catholic Lutheran thing.  However I will not get into that this morning!

One needs to know that these stories are told by people who look to be in their later years.  Like maybe for the most part 70s, 80s and UP.

ANOTHER FROM THE BOOK

" I owned the bar for seven years.  Two years too long.  I said everybody should own a bar at one time in their life but not for more than 5 years.  I was 43 years old when I had the bar, and they are taking bets that I'd never draw Social Security.  They figured I"d be dead and gone.  Smoked two, three packs a day, and I quit drinking in 1990.  It's funny, I got divorced in 1990, and usually when a guy gets divorced he goes to drinking' I done just the opposite. Got divorced because of drinking and then I quit!

Many of the stories in this book remind me of growing up and the people around us.  Much of the talk is the same and often the wording is about the same too.  A different time, a different kind of life for many of the people.  I would say that for the most part people back then were really good people with good values. One could say some of the stories are somewhat strange but then what about today?  Often strange in a different way!

I am on my last sip of FP so will sign off.
