Today, a good-bye to March of 2021

 TERRY

As I write it is 7:45 and Terry is busy reading the newspaper.  She was awake at 6:30.  Yesterday she used the walker to go back and forth from the bedroom to the living room several times.  We will see today how she does and I am hoping she will do it even more.  Are her legs getting stronger?  It is hard to say but the walking can only help.

I have tennis at 10:30 this morning.  That is about it for me for the day.  I will make a trip to the grocery store to purchase items for Easter Sunday.  I am planning to have a standing rib roast, a potato dish and asparagus for the veggie.  Pretty simple but hopefully good.

I know that many people do the brackets for the NCAA BB.  It often is a big deal in offices etc as people often put money where their mouth is!  Well I do not have office people or anyone who likes that kind of thing so I just do my own for the fun of it.  Well I am thinking I should have been in some pool!  My sheet has 3 of the final 4 teams.  I know it is NOT important but kind of fun to follow how things go.  It will be fun to see if Gonzaga can win it all.  Nobody has gone undefeated for something like 45 years and here they are two wins away from a perfect season.  I have followed them a bit as one of their most important players, Jalen Suggs who is a freshman, is the big star.  As a student at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis he was Mr. Football AND Mr. Basketball as a senior.  It is always fun to see athletes from you state do well on the national scene.

In my quest to write about ALL my grandchildren in the month of March I will feature the two youngest Adkins today.  John Paul will be 3 in July and Maximilian will be 2 in November.  Now what can one say about young boys that age?  It would be unfair to say they will be super athletic because maybe they will focus on music instead!  It would be unfair to say they will be future doctors because maybe they will be farmers or trades people.  So I will say what I know.

They both are good looking, energetic, REAL boys, healthy and have a BRIGHT future to look towards!

There they are, Maximilian and John Paul

As I look at Maximilian and John Paul I am thinking with their looks they may be in the movies!

So ends my pictures of the grandkids.  I know I do not qualify to judge but I am thinking, as a group, they are about as good looking as any group any place!  AND I would say, for all, they are going places in our world and will make it a better place to be!!!
I am excited as of now ALL will be in Naples the week after Christmas this year.  I tried to find a house large enough for all to stay in but had to settle for four hotel rooms instead.
That is all for now.  I just poured my last cup of FP so will sign off for another day.  Tomorrow--a new month and new adventures will come.

AND the count down to April is near the end--March 30, 2021

 TERRY

I would say Terry is her usual self today.  She awoke kind of early and so she is finished with the paper.  I need to have a conversation with her today as she is scheduled for her one therapy session tomorrow and I know she is not wanting to go.  We will see.  She is using the walker more and more so that is good.  As usual, one day at a time!

I have upped my culinary skills to go beyond a tuna sandwich!  We get meals delivered each Monday and they usually are prepared by Sonia on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday BUT Sonia is not here this week so it is up to me.  I made enchiladas yesterday and IF I were to grade myself I think I would earn about a B or maybe a B+.  I guess that is better than a passing C but it certainly is not the A that Sonia usually gets!  Today it will be mashed potatoes and chicken and tomorrow a burger with potato wedges.  I would say I am making progress as a MALE homemaker!  I would say that I am doing it out of duty and not out of desire to be a chef!  Well OK I admit it is kind of enjoyable but for sure I would rather be in my wood shop or on the tennis court.  Well there is no wood shop here in Naples so I guess I will settle for the tennis court.  AND that reminds me I had better keep an eye on the time as I hit the courts this morning at 10:30.

Today we are at grandchild #12 who is Leonidas (Leo) Adkins

Leo is quit the good looking guy.  He is full of fun and has such a nice personality to go with it.  I am thinking that Cynthia and Mike had better keep an eye on him as he gets to be a teenager.  I can not say for certain if he likes sports or art or academia or something else as he will be 5 in November but I assure you whatever he does he will be good at it.  I should add that he is certainly one good looking young man!

Monday, March 29, 2021

Here we are at the beginning of Holy Week 2021--It is a Monday!

 TERRY

As I write the time is 8:30 and Terry is reading the paper.  She is scheduled to have an hour of therapy tomorrow but we will see.  Last week she was adamant that she need not go for her last 4 sessions so we will see.   She certainly could use prayers as always but a new thing has come up that has me concerned.  I would say about once a day she gets this coughing spell and has the dry heaves.  All that comes up is a tiny bit of saliva but the episode usually lasts 5 minutes or so.  I am glad she is having a Dr. visit in a couple of weeks.

Well here we are in the last days of March and Terry and I are solo all of this week and through next Monday as Sonia gets to visit her Mom whom she has not seen in two years.  We will miss her but are so glad she gets the visit.  So with the meals that arrive this afternoon I need to put my thinking and cooking hat on as these meals are not all that difficult but they are a bit above my mean tuna sandwich which I have down to a science!!!  Oh, I have also discovered that Costco has several frozen good things to fix for a snack!

I have 10:30 tennis today and it is with the two courts where we play 45 minutes and then switch for the last 45 minutes.  I enjoy it as most of the players are somewhat above the players who I usually play with on Tuesday and Thursday.

Here we go on grandchild #11 Veronica.

I will start out by saying that this girl has, in grandpa's words, energy, character, ambition and much much more.  I promise you that when Veronica grows up, and maybe before that, she will do great things and make good things happen.  I am kind of happy that by the time she becomes an adult Grandpa will be too old to argue as I am sure I would lose!  Veronica is a SUPER gal who is easy to love!

That is all for today.  I did have FP, as usual, so I am good for the day.

Palm Sunday 2021

 TERRY

Not much news about Terry.  I have a chart starting today to mark each time she uses the walker to walk the distance from the bedroom to the living room and back again.  We will see how many times she can do that.  When she does walk she says her legs hurt but if something has not been used for a year that is to be expected of course.  It is one day at a time and we hope each day will be a tiny bit better.

We are near the end of March and I promised a summary of each of the grandchildren by the end of the month!  Yikes!!!  We have #10, Elspeth today and I will need to get the last 4 in the next three days.  Here we go with Elspeth

As are all the grandchildren, Elspeth is pretty darn special.  She can think on her feet like no one else.  A couple years ago the kids were playing the piano for us and of course Elspeth wanted to get into the act too.  So she sat down and commenced to make some noise on the keys.  I asked what the name of her song was, which was no song of course, and she stated without missing a beat, "Molly going to St, Paul".  Now that is quick thinking!!!   Elspeth is cute, smart, and I think a big help too when she is needed.  In the last picture she has flour on her face as she had been helping make lefsa!

On to the years of about 1955-1960 or so
I do not have any certain thing to write about today but there are many memories of these years.  Many of them are about Ronald, Glorine, Janet and John.  I was in grades 2-7 during those years and being the ages of 8-13 many memories are of older siblings coming home to visit.  I have said this before.  For some reason Dad was prone to having these spells where he was quiet, NOT TALKING, and he seemed to be distance.  He would go through these times and they would last a few days.  Then one morning we would come downstairs and he would be back to himself.  Well my older siblings, including their spouses, were always a breathe of fresh air during these times when they could come home in the middle of one of Dad's spells.  He would, at the sound of an approaching car, become happy and engaging again.  I have often wondered if us younger kids were that bad or if the older ones were that good!!!   Anyway here are sometimes that I remember as if the day(s) were seared into my brain:
  • I remember in about 1956 or so Ronald came home and had something for me.  I was so excited.  He reached into the trunk of his car and handed me a 22 rifle.  I thought I may go airborne I was so excited.  Of course we had several guns in the house as Dad was a huge hunter but the guns were off limits to Dave and I.  Here I had my very own gun and to think that my brother Ronald felt I was responsible enough to have one was frosting on the cake.  He then went on to explain it was actually a target 22 rifle and he had cut the stock down and the barrel down to fit me.  It was a day and a gift to remember.
  • This next event is a bit later than my dates as I am pretty sure it was the fall of 1961.  Our band leader Mr. Phiel signed our band up to march in the homecoming parade in Ellendale.  I am guessing Janet and John were at the time in Kulm but they were at the homecoming.  They had this cute convertible car and John let Dave and I drive it.  We were the envy of the entire band!  In my mind I said to myself, "Our family is the best"!
  • I would be remiss if I did not mention the times Janet/John and Ronald/Glorine came down in the fall for pheasant hunting.  I THINK they both were married at the time but not sure.  We would walk the trees across the road as Dave and I served as bird dogs!  By the time we had walked the entire length of the trees we would have several dead birds.  We would then walk back to the farm, which was just across the road and John, Ronald and Dad would clean the birds.  We would then drive to other places to hunt knowing that when we returned home Mom would have a feast waiting for us of home grown potatoes with creamy delicious pheasant which was the BEST ever.  Come to think of it we may have gotten more than our limit during the day!!!
  • I know more than once we drove to Ellendale to have a picnic with Ronald and his guy friends.  Mom would pack a lunch of home made pie, homemade potato salad and and home made bread as sandwiches.  We would go to a park and just sit blankets and enjoy the outdoors as we ate.  I was always in awe of Ronald and his friends.
  • Of course I have written about this before but will add it as it was a banner day.  The day Ronald drove into the yard with a TV in the front seat.  After attaching an antenna to the wind charger stand on the roof we had TV for the first time.  Now we could watch Friday night wrestling and Saturday afternoon baseball with Dizzy Dean where a line drive to the outfield was a FROZEN ROPE!  It also brought snowy conditions to out house in the summer as at times the TV went kind of white.
  • I will end with the BOATS.  Both Ronald and John had boats and they would, at times, bring them down to the farm.  It was behind those boats that I learned to water ski.  I would sit in the water and then stand up at the boat started.  John or Ronald would then make a loop and as we came back to near where I started I would flip a ski off and go with one.  The most fun was If there were others at the lake and they could see me on one ski!!!  I mean there even were girls at times that seemed impressed!!!
Enough for today.  Here it is 10:45 and the morning is almost gone.  The FP is history and the day is mostly ahead of me so I will sign off.

Saturday, March 27, a special day!

 TERRY

Terry brought up that she needs to walk with the walker more so we did walk to the living room and back.  I have an erase board and have the numbers 1-6 on it for tomorrow.  Each time she walks I will cross out a number.  We will get this going and I feel she will be walking in the future.

Terry loves oatmeal cookies with raisins so I made some today.  I would say, without bragging, that I would give myself an A+ as they are really very good.

Today is our 10 anniversary!  The top picture was taken in Key West shortly after we were married and the bottom was taken maybe a year and a half ago.  Today, no gifts and no celebration but thanks for being here and together.   I did give the picture to Terry as kind of a anniversary/birthday present.  It is now hanging in our living room.  Not sure that is where Terry wants it but until she tells me differently it is there.
I will post it one more time as it is a wonderful picture.  A water color by Henry printed on metal.

Not much more to say today.  So with the FP way way in the past I sign off.

March 26th, last Friday of March 2021

 TERRY

Terry is doing about the same so no news about her.  It looks like we are about at the end of the water therapy sessions as well as the gym sessions so as we go forward it pretty much is on our own!

Not much to say today.  I am tired.  I mean REALLY tired but of course If I sleep now then it will be awake tonight!  I have been looking on the computer on a site that is about abandon sites in ND.   I came across these pictures and I THINK they are from Glorine's home town Kief.  IF I remember she is from there.

I would really like to find something about Cayuga as I need a picture of our old school!

Enough for now as it is 4:30 in the evening.  Like I said, not much to share or to say today except I did have my FP this morning!!!

Thursday, March 25, 2021

Wow, I missed a day as it is now Thursday!

 TERRY

Terry is wanting to use the walker more and that is good.  We did not make it to therapy today.  We are hoping that in the days ahead there will be more walking, more strength and eventually walking without the walker.  Time will tell.

Some how I missed blogging yesterday and I do not know WHY!  Not really much to say but wanted to update about Terry.

I did get our taxes send by FedEx today and it will be interesting to see how much info I am missing!!!  I hope not a lot.  I am guessing TriFound will get back to me in a few days, anyway I hope.

I have been trying to find a place for family to come down after Christmas but no luck as of now.  It seems that most of the places are VERY expensive!  Well I would say family is priceless BUT!

I will finish my blog today with a picture of our pool wall.  There is a separation in the wall of about 14 inches.  I had one company come and their estimate was to redo the entire pool for a grand total of $3500!!  Yikes!  I do NOT think that is necessary so I have two other calls into other companies.  I will finish today with a picture of what the problem is.

I am far from a pool expert BUT something tells me that is not a $3500 fix!  Anyway we will see what happens.
Of course my FP was gone a long time ago.

Tuesday and I am late

 TERRY

Terry had two sessions of therapy today.  First she was in the water and then she was in the gym.  She had quit a workout and came home very tired.  The therapist in the gym said he felt she need not use the wheelchair any more but only use the walker.   That was interesting news.  We will try to do a lot more of using the walker.  I would say it was an encouraging session.  Now there is work ahead!

Well I could feel today that I had my covid shot yesterday.  I was kind of tired, a bit ache and a back that bothered me.  I am sure I will be back to normal tomorrow.  Well I mean as normal as I can be!!!

Interesting tennis today.  I played with the guys that I usually do on Tuesday and Thursdays.  One guy was not there so he had a replacement.  Julius and I took on the other two.  Julius is 86 but he hits a mean ball and we did win the first set 6-1.  In the second set we ended up 5-5 when time was up.

Terry will have another therapy session this Thursday and then only one a week for the next 5 weeks.  She may be out of sessions for the year at that time, we will see.  I think the work ahead will be in the gym and not in the pool.  We need to get our pool fixed so she can use that.  I am waiting to hear from the repair company and I am more than a bit upset at the timing as they were supposed to come out last Wednesday and we have heard nothing from them.

Not much else to say tonight.  I will post a picture of what I gave Terry today.  I took the water color that Henry did and had it blown up to 53 X 23 and printed on metal.  It came ready to hang.  I am not sure where Terry will want it but I did hang it in the living room just to see how it looks hanging.  I think it is very nice.

Short but that is all for tonight.  Maybe more tomorrow but not sure.  I did finish my FP many many hours ago.

Monday, March 22, 2021

Here we start the last full week of March 2021

 TERRY

I feel Terry is getting better a little at a time.  Our pool is down so NO water therapy at home at this time but really she is better.  It will be interesting to see how this week of therapy goes.  She has it tomorrow.

I am at grandchild #9 and that is Agatha Adkins

If you look into Agatha's eyes you see a personality that is bright, cheerful and certainly full of life.  Oh my but she is so so engaging as a young girl.  IF you ever are lucky enough to spend time with her you will have a fun time!!!  It seems like she has talent to do great things.  I see Agatha pretty much doing whatever she desires in the future.

I am doing the men's basketball NCCA tournament as I filled out my predictions last Saturday.  Half of the teams are done with the first two rounds and there are 8 teams left.  I still have 4 in the hunt.  That is 50% which is kind of so so I think.  Is it important?  On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the most important, my predictions are a 0 in importance!!!  BUT it is kind of fun.
I have tennis at 9:00 this morning and then my covid shot is at 11:10 at the grocery store.  It is the Moderna one so I will need a second one in mid April and it is already scheduled.  Terry just read in the paper that it is a good idea to exercise the arm after the shot so I am thinking maybe I should get it in the right arm as that is used more.
Our in home help, Sonia, will be here this morning so we will have some help and Terry will have some company.  Terry does enjoy her being here AND it is a wonderful diversion from being with me all the time!
Enough for now.  I still have half of my FP to drink and will get to that before I leave for tennis around 8:55

Sunday, March 21, 2021

Spring is here and the weather is perfect!

 TERRY

Terry and I talked some yesterday about how to get her on her feet again.  We will talk more today but really it should just be a matter of working at home with exercise and using the walker to start out.  In the pool--not sure but I am game for it.  Right now the pool is in need of repair and I have it shut down so it could not happen for a while.  She does have water therapy twice this week and twice next week and that may be the end so from that time on it will be up to us!!!  As I write this morning it is almost 7:30 and Terry is well into the Sunday paper.

One of the things I feel needs to happen is we need to start thinking like life is normal.  SO today when she is hungry it will be sitting up to the table and eating and not eating in bed.  I have a very nice REAL meal planned for noon and I feel Terry will really like that.  I can not say what it is as I told her it will be a surprise AND sometimes she reads my blog so I will have a picture of it tomorrow!  IF anybody reads my blog they know that I like pictures!

I cut out the brackets for the NCAA men's BB tournament and after the first day I have 64% correct!  Not bad but not so good either!  Will see who wins today.

October 17, 1957

It is a Sunday in which we do have church.  Rev Mailing serves THREE churches and so he has services every Sunday in Veblen and every other Sunday in our church and in another church only 2 miles away.  As Joan, Helen, Dave and I are getting ready for church and Sunday School Dad informs Mom that he is NOT going to church today.  Pheasant hunting started yesterday so Dad is staying home to make sure there are NO hunters on our land.  Also to make sure there is NO shooting towards our house.  It is almost kind of common for cars to stop on the road and IF they see birds in the trees to the east of our house they feel they are open game.  More than once we have had BBs hit the shed that is near the house.  I assure you that you never would have wanted to be near Dad when that happened or for that matter if he saw anyone hunting on our land.  I still remember on a Saturday during hunting a car drove over the bridge to the north and then headed out on our land to the west.  I had NO idea that Dad would move that fast.  He raced to the car and headed south and then west to our field north of Rollofs.  He met the car and it looked like July 4th with the air so blue!!!!  We have no proof but it seemed that most likely a car was driving on our land the day our farm burned.  We do not know how the fire started but of course it did not start by itself.  It either was a cigarette thrown out the window or the muffler of a car caught the weeds on fire.  Anyway here we are in mid-October and Dad is going to serve as the patrol of the day around our farm as we go to church and Sunday School.  Really in the back of my mind I kind of think Dad likes his role for the day!  We got home about noon and Dad was sitting in the living room reading a gun magazine as I noticed it was NOT the Bible!  Well it could have been the Bible of guns, I do not know that.  Anyway he reported that nothing had happened and he almost sounded as if he was a bit disappointed!  All that was left for the day was some of Mom's fried egg sandwiches, some ball playing with Dave and maybe a ride to the lake to see who was there.

Here it is Sunday.  Terry and I will watch church on the computer and that will be it for the day.

Here are a couple of pictures of Liam and Henry taken about 12 or so years apart

This is from their Christmas Card and it does not show that both are 6'+ but not as tall as Grandpa!!!!😁

Well we have Benedict today who is grandchild #8

Well when Benedict was born he made the count boys 5 and girls 3 so we felt maybe the boys could win out BUT that did not happen.  Benedict may be our farmer!  He loves the Saunders farm but he may not be so excited now as there are NO cattle.  Benedict is a great kid.  He is smart, athlete and full of energy.  If I remember right he is into Lego things and many other things as well.  If you have any doubts about our future never fear because Benedict will be a force in making our world better.  I should add that he is one good looking guy!

Well here it is a bit past 8 AM so time to move on for the day.  We have a cool day for southwest FL.  Now it is 55 and we only have a high of 72 today which in my world is great.  I have half a cup of FP left so I am good for a while.

Saturday, March 20, 2021

Today is grandchild #7 Ruby Lee who turned double 1s in February

Here is Ruby Lee and she is pretty darn special in MANY ways.  Brother Leo has NO chance to beat Ruby in getting home work done as she is almost finished with it as soon as she gets home AND she may even complain a bit about it being not enough work!  Be careful if you want to look as nice as Ruby as she often has socks that do NOT match and she looks good that way!  She also is a winner in games, a person who knows so so much trivia and to top it off is she is pretty darn cute!  She also may be smart beyond her age but then that is a good thing.  I am thinking she often has her teachers guessing how she became to be so smart!  When born she also keep the "girls" in the race of boys and girls.  She was the #3 girl to the 4 boys which meant things were pretty equal!  Keep up the great work Ruby!

HAPPY SPRING 2021!!!

TERRY

Really no news about Terry today.  She did use the walker a couple times yesterday and it seems that she does well walking with it.  I do stay by her side and hang onto her shirt as she walks but she has not had any "near falls" so that is good.  I am pretty sure she will be opted out of the gym therapy next week but will have two more weeks of water therapy which will be good.

I started getting the Wall Street Journal about a week ago.  It was fun to see this in the paper this morning as Terry and I were in this room on one of our National Park trips.  Of course the picture does not show the beautiful colors as much as when one can see it in person.
I should add that it was the WSJ that I often would find something to cut out and send to Dave so reading the paper now is sometimes kind of hollow.
I had been trying to get an appointment for my FIRST covid shot for a few weeks.  I was getting concerned as starting Monday they are taking people who are 65 and up to now I think it had been 70.  Well Karl, a tennis friend, has a son-in-law who seems to have the magic touch in terms of getting appointments and he said he would ask Peter to see what he could do.  Presto, Peter somehow got an appointment for me this coming Monday at a Publix grocery store about 2 miles from us.  Not only that but it is for 11:10 and tennis is at 9:00 so I do NOT have to cancel tennis.  Somehow he not only got the first shot but also a schedule for the second as well.  It seems that MANY of the tennis guys have had their shot and I was beginning to feel as if I was the odd man out so to speak.  Well I still may be the odd man out but in a different way!!!
Not much, in fact nothing, is planned for the weekend.  Maybe a trip to the store but that is all.  I have been taking the weekend off from tennis and will continue to do so for a while.  For some reason my back is sore today and that has not happened for a long time.  Could it be old age?
SPRING IS HERE AS IT WAS IN APRIL OF 1956
Dad had been talking about the snow melt for a couple of weeks now.  It was April 20, a Friday that when I went to bed Dad said, "I would not be surprised if the creek starts running tomorrow as it seems the snow in the hills to the south is melting."  With that thought in mind Dave and I headed upstairs to bed about 9:00.  It seemed that is really was too early to go to bed but we had finished a game of "Touring" and then had a game of marbles and shells.  I was kind of "down" as Dave had destroyed me in both games.  It seemed that often we were kind of even steven but not this time.  I know Dave was two and a half years older than I but still I felt I should win half the time.  Anyway we headed up stairs with the idea that MAYBE we would see water tomorrow.  After some long talks about springs work, the closing of Wood Lake School and the frightening idea of going to Cayuga School next fall we finally fell asleep but it was closer to 10 PM.
The first thing I thought of when I woke up was is the creek running?  I tried to look out the west window but I could not see anything so I scampered downstairs to greet Mom in the kitchen.  She smiled and said I should look out the west Kitchen windows.  As I hurried across the kitchen and looked out my eyes focused on WATER out of the creek banks and rushing like I had never seen before.  I knew it was going to be a fun fun day.  Without even asking for breakfast I raced out the east door, ran around the house and and with the legs of a gazelle ran to the pasture fence just beyond the outhouse.  There it was!  The creek which had been little more than a trickle the night before looked like an angry raging storm as it seemed to be 30 feet across and going FAST.  I followed the fence line east as that kind of followed the creek as I wanted to see what the bridge water was like.  In a normal mid summer day the water was perhaps just a couple of feet deep under the bridge and there was maybe 6 or so feet from the water to the underside of the bridge.  This morning the water was maybe only a foot from going over the bridge!  That was amazing.  I walked back and forth from the bridge to the outhouse on our farm.  That was maybe only a couple hundred feet but the sight of the raging water was unreal.  I thought about how long the water would be so wide and so deep.  It actually went beyond the fence to the north of the farm.  I knew that the water would be high like that for several days and then it would start to go down and the fun would start.  There would be fish caught in the rock dam and the later in the summer there would be fish caught in pools of water as the creek stopped running.  This was a fun day and it meant times ahead that would make the spring a fun time to be on the farm.
After an hour or so I realized that I was kind of hungry so I hurried back into the house to see what Mom had in mind for breakfast.
As I sit at the computer and type about the past I wonder what kind of thoughts Mom had about the high water creek.  I do not remember Mom or Dad ever warning us to be careful.  Did they think we knew enough to stay clear of the raging water?  They must have because not a word of warning but then maybe my memory is not the best too!!!
Anyway "when the creek was running" was a fun time and it kind of seemed to be the welcome mat for summer ahead.
As I write today I think back on the farm.  The house, the barn, the granary, the chicken house, the steel bins, the corncrib, the shop, the outhouse, the gas pump and more.  Then I think about what it is today.  If you were to be driving on the road that went east and west and then turned up to go north on the road that led to our farm you would have NO idea that a farm ever was there.  All it is today is a grain field with NO hint that a farm ever existed there.  The times I have been there over the last many years always leave me in a sad state.  I know, our farm was outdated, it was old and it was not kept up in a good way.  BUT still it  was our home, our place to work and play and to have it exist with NO trace of what was is indeed a sad state of affairs.  Perhaps the rock pile east of the road remains there as a testament to what "was".
Enough for this morning.  No creek to think about, no farm to be concerned about.  Today it is enough to think about Terry's health, my tennis game, filing our taxes and keeping the house kind of picked up!!!  Well with that in mind I will sip the last drop of FP and enter into the day.

On to some work!

 TERRY

As I write it is 7:30 and Terry is still sleeping.  She has therapy and evaluation today so we will see what they say.  Will it be another 30 days or will it be finished.  Terry says IF they say no more she will work in our pool so time will tell.

With our club in the middle of the busy season I was not assigned a court today for tennis so it will be a day of being at home.  I have a few calls I need to make and then MAYBE I can finalize the tax papers and send them in, maybe!  I saw in the paper yesterday that the IRS has changed the tax filing deadline to mid May but I do want to get ours in soon.  I am pretty sure there will be some kind of refund.  It should be pretty much what our 2019 returns were as last year Terry had the sale of her house so it was an odd year.  I have not seen any check for the stimulus money but I am guessing we get zero as I am kind of sure it is based on returns of 2020 and that was when Terry's house sold.

Cynthia arrived back in Minnesota yesterday and I am guessing to a grand welcome from the kids!  It was fun having her here for the short time she was.  I feel she now has a good idea of where Dad is, how Dad is and what Dad does.  Her visit should have been longer BUT the time we had was grand.

Not much else to say as my FP is almost gone and my mind is telling me that maybe I should get to work. So I will post about one of the grandkids and then move on to the day.

I CONTINUE WITH THE GRANDCHILDREN STORIES

Today we have Jude Adkins who is #6 and will be twelve August 18th

My apology as this picture is not 100% clear as I copied it from their Christmas Card.  BUT I wanted you to see how grown up and big Jude has become.
Jude is one special guy.  He is always kind, considerate, gentle and just a super kind of young man.  He does very well in school and has shown flashes of having the Lee athlete skills.  (That may come from the Adkins too but I can not speak to that!).  Jude is into Lego things and pens, my kind of guy!  There is NO doubt that he will go far in life and make his mark on whatever he does.

 TERRY

Terry did not go for her final evaluation yesterday as she just did not feel all that great.  It is rescheduled for tomorrow.  She has been doing fine so we will see what they have to say at WT tomorrow.

Daughter Cynthia came in on Monday and she will leave today for the Tundra!  She has enjoyed the warm sunny weather we are having.  She also has taken the time to go on walks and a run yesterday.  I might add that she has taken advantage of the pool and says it is NICE!  We will leave here about 11:00 today as her plane is supposed to depart at 1:10.  It certainly has been fun having her hear.

We went out for lunch at the Turtle Club which is right on the gulf coast.  The food is very good.  We had to order Stone Crabs to start with.  IF you come to Florida in the winter you need to indulge in them.  From there we went to salads which were great.

We intended to see the sunset on the beach last night but I goofed and we went an hour early and did not want to sit there that long.  Cynthia did have to venture down to the water to see how warm it was.

Cynthia enjoyed the pool

Here is what will greet Cynthia when she returns this afternoon.  No more peace and quiet BUT much fun, much love and much excitement!

Enough for this morning.  I need to head to the courts in a couple of minutes so will sign off.  I will return home about 10:30 and then head to the airport with Cynthia at about 11:00.

My FP is about gone and as usual it was very good.
