TERRY
Here it is Tuesday and I can not believe I did not blog yesterday. Terry had a dr. appointment in the afternoon as there was something the dr did not like when they took an X ray of her left lung. She has an elevated diaphragm (sp) in the lung BUT it does not appear that there is a problem as Terry has experienced no issues with it. That was good news. She did sleep much of the day yesterday and as I write at 8: 35 this AM she is still sleeping. It is now time to get ready for 9:00 tennis so I will finish when I come home around 10:30.
As we get into the late fall I am reminded of the fun it was when we burned many of the sloughs on our land. By the fall the sloughs were mostly dry and had tall weeds that had pretty much grown all summer long. Usually in late October Dad would pick a day when he felt there was little or no wind and we would go out to the fields. Dad had a long copper pipe with a bend on the end. He would stuff the end with an old rag and then pour gas into the pipe. He would then light the rag as the gas sipped into it and he would walk around the slough. Small drops of flames would come out of the pipe and start the grass on fire. Dave and I would usually be there and we would just kind of sit on the side that Dad was not on and just watch BUT there was fun to it. We would grab some of the hollow weeds and stick the end into the fire. We would then pretend we were BUT guys and blow smoke out of the weed. That is the extent of my smoking days!!! Of course we never inhaled but just blew out and made a big deal of it. The aroma of the burning is still in my memory. It usually was one of the more fun times on the farm. As it was late in the fall things seemed to be slower, cooler and it was just a fun time of farming life.
I am now back after tennis and a trip to the store. Our in home care will be here for another half hour. As I came home Terry is asleep much as yesterday and that is somewhat concerning. One day at a time for sure.
I finished my FP before tennis and I have not eaten anything so will grab a bite soon. Election day and it will be interesting. It could be some long ugly hours, days and maybe even longer as we find out who will be the president for the next several years. Enough.
