Day 54, "Every picture has a story"
This hawk had a birds EYE view of our tennis win yesterday!!! Well to be honest the picture was taken about 2 years ago BUT if it would have been yesterday the hawk would have been pleased with the play on the court! We lost court #3 almost in record time BUT won on court #2 and #1. On 2 Rich and Rusty played well and won pretty handily. On court 1 Karl and I had to come back in the first set from being down 3-4 to win 6-4. We layed an egg in set 2 with a 3-6 defeat. BUT in the tie breaker we went up 6-3 and then allowed them to close the gap at 7-6. It was then we made a pivotal shot to go ahead 8-6 as without that shot it would have been 7-7. In the end we won 10-8. I would say I gave our level of play a B, at best, but then usually one needs to acknowledge that the opponent has a say in how you play. It was one of the more strange matches I have ever played. One of their players had a rocket of a serve but in the match he did not use it. He used a VERY unconventional serve with spin on it that I have never seen. Then in some of the rallies he would hit a return WAY WAY high, almost as if you could have a cup of FP as you waited for it to come down! I have to admit, more than once, it was effective as the wind would take it and he only used it when the sun was in our eyes. In the end it did not make any difference. We play our last match of the season next Wednesday and it is against our second Tarpon Cove Club. As usual we will have to scramble for players as they will also. This is a MUST win match as they should not have been playing 3.0 with their players who are all 2.5s. IF we lose any of the matches we will NEVER hear the end of it😬.
Another day of cool temps. It must have been in the high 40s this morning. I play at 10:30 so it should be nice by that time.
Terry is busy thinking and planning a "ladies only" Christmas party on the 18th. It looks like 20 plus or minus ladies will descend on 732 Wiggins Bay Dr to talk, eat and enjoy the Christmas season. I will need to leave the house by at least 12:30 as the party will start at 1:00. I do not want to be any where near here at 1:00. I am sure the ladies will have a great time as Terry ALWAYS does those things up in grand style.
After an early breakfast and a kind of late finishing up my FP I will sign off. I put the last of my FP in a Yeti which keeps it warm for hours but now I am down to the last drop.
