TERRY
Well as we start the day it seems that it will be an upgrade from yesterday in some ways! As I turned in bed and looked towards Terry she was awake and it was like 7:20. After hurrying to get the garbage out before the truck came I took care of any needs Terry had and then turned on the TV for her and gave her the paper. Now, at 8:40, all is well!!!
Yesterday I got on the phone at 7:30 to find out IF Summit was going to get to to our place that day. After a brief wait I found out that they were scheduled to come in the morning. Well there was no time given so I called only to find out they had put 2 or 3 jobs ahead of us. Why? Well he said our job involved some digging etc and they did not want to go into houses with dirty clothes so he felt they would be at our place around 2:00. Well I finally called at 4:00 to see what was up and he said they would be here in about 45 minutes. Finally around 5:00 they came and presto, two and a half hours later we had TV👐. The cable goes into our neighbor's house from underground and into their garage and then into the attic. From there is comes into our attic and then down into the den. They certainly knew what they were doing as they worked the entire time without phone calls or papers to look at!!! Terry is happy. It just was so difficult to lie in bed with nothing to do. Her eyes have been bothering her so after reading the paper in the morning she is pretty much done for the day in terms of reading. BUT here we are Tuesday AM and Terry is in bed with a smile, the paper and the TV on.
There was another positive thing yesterday. The PT came and Terry really liked her. She gave us several exercises to do once or twice a day so we will see. I did tell Terry that she needs to be the one to get us engaged in doing them. I will do anything but she is the one who needs to say, "Let's work now"! The OT is coming today and I think the health aide will be here tomorrow. Let's get it on and get well!!!
OK so the day was not a total GOOD. I looked at my phone in the afternoon and WOW the market was up almost 650 points. Then I looked at my $1.98 investments and they were down a bit! I figured how in the world could that be??? I guess my stock picks are bad, at least for one day BUT maybe better days are ahead. I am hoping they go up enough so that sometime in December I can stop at Starbucks and get a TALL fancy cup of coffee. BUT just to be safe I will not hold my breath.
Also things were not great on the tennis court yesterday. Karl does his 8 guys, 2 courts on Mondays. We draw to see who we play with. Well I drew a guy who was NO fun. I am guessing during the 90 minutes of play he said maybe half a dozen words none of which were pleasant. He did not smile either. We lost the first match and won the second but there was no fun in tennis town on my part.
I have no more stories for the day but my mind is gathering some for later. December is always a month for me to look back at our time growing up. Of course that also brings happy memories and many sad ones as well. I will just do a short writing for today.
Janet in maybe 1955 or so
Janet was home on the farm. I do not know if this happened then or maybe she told us about it:
Janet was going to college and I am guessing she was dating John at the time but not sure. She worked in a drug store, I think, and her boss gave her a box of very nice candy for Christmas. She was happy with the gift BUT what she was really happy with was when she opened the box of candy there was a $20 bill in the box. NOW I admit that is what I remember but John may have the real story which may not fit perfectly with my version. But of course the idea is it was a great surprise for her. In case you are wondering $20 back then had the same buying power as $200 today!!!
Here it is 9:04 and I am out of words. I did enjoy a REAL breakfast this morning as I had two eggs, two paddies of potatoes and two paddies of sausage. That, along with that wonder FP started the day in a most positive vein. Let's hope the rest of the day is as good, at least on the tennis courts at 10:30!!!
