I have been slow to pull the trigger on tennis. I rode my bike over to the courts a few times on Saturday and Sunday but have yet to take my racquet out of the bag. Not many people are here yet as many will arrive late October and into November . Then it is not unusual for some to go north for the holidays and then be back in January. I see this morning that a friend made a court time for Thursday BUT I need to get on the court before that! I will wander over this morning about 7:30 to see what is happening.
There are several things happening this week. Terry has a screen person coming over on Tuesday as she may have the pool area rescreened. If she does she will have finer wire put up to keep the tiny bugs out that appear here in Naples. We have a lunch date with the Hoskins on Wednesday. Rich and Linda are moving to Houston. Rich is a very good tennis player and has played on my team the last couple of years. BUT sadly he has early onset of Alzheimer's and Linda knows she will need help from family as time goes on. Rich is just a great guy. There will be a going away party for them Thursday which we will go to. Perhaps I get a little too emotional with things but as one ages sickness, death and all sorts of things often come into play and often they hit very close to home. It makes me desire to make each day a good one and certainly be thankful for health. At this point Terry and I are enjoying good health (some aches and pains of course) and I hope and pray that I can say that for a long time.
Terry is expecting a phone call today from her daughter's brother in law. She wants to talk over some business with him.
I am almost becoming paranoid about those darn hearing aid "dooms". I put a new one on my left aid yesterday and made sure it was on all the way! About 2 hours later I took my aid off and NO doom on the end. Urgent Care is open until 7:00 on Sunday so I drove there and it took the Dr. about 30 second to get it out. Darn! That is the third time I have done that and it is annoying at best. The one good thing was thee was NOBODY at urgent care and usually there is an hour wait. However at 72 if that is my biggest issue I guess I should be thankful. I will be using "72" a lot in the next few months as in late January I will have to stop!
Just a tad bit about our trip down here. Some of the highlights were:
- I walked Ruby to the school bus on Monday and again played tag with her and friends until the bus arrived. As we approached the area where the bus stopped one of her friends shouted, "Grandpa is here!"
- Always it is fun to have conversations with Leo
- Once again Liam was the "ultimate" helper when we were in South Bend
- I had fun conversations with Audrey on Tuesday as she is home schooled so was home as the others went off to school.
- That cutie Elspeth is too too much with her smile which is kind of full of mischief
- It was fun to go to Henry's soccer game and he did himself proud as he scored two of his teams 3 goals. They won 3-1
- In PeachTree City I was able to golf with Dave. I am sure he beat me on every hole BUT there were some good shots that came off my club head. Oh, some awful ones too!
- Terry's oldest grandson Zach came over for dinner on Thursday and he is always an interesting conversationalist. He has his masters in mechanical engineering and in January will start a masters program in computer science which his company will pay for. A smart guy!
- It was fun to hear what Sam is doing in his MA program in the area of public health. His masters is only months away.
- Tori was away in school but Terry had a fun conversation with her on the phone. Tori will graduate in December in pre-med.
- We visited Josh at college and that was great
- Those Archbold kids are pretty special in so many ways.
