Thirty days has September and here it is for 2019

What is the connection and why are they important to me?

There is NO way anybody knows the answers so will give them today.  The top picture is the bar in Geneseo which was there when I was living at home at well.  Back then Roman owned it and I THINK he did an OK business.  There were bullhead fish fries on Fridays during the summer, dances on Saturday night and of course liquor for all!  The reason I post it is Roman would give Dad his haircuts.  I have NO idea how or where that started as I am positive he was not a barber but that was Dad's "go to place" for his hair.  Maybe Dad found out Roman gave haircuts one of the times Eleanor asked Dad to drive to Geneseo to get Bert out of the bar that he had been in for days!  The bottom picture is the corner of Hwy 11 and Geneseo mainstream!  Fritz, the mailman, had a gas station and convenience store on that corner.  You could stop there in the early 60s and perhaps get gas for $0.30 a gallon and then pick up a handful of liquorice sticks shaped like a pipe and be on your way.  Of course Fritz's favorite delivery to our place would be in the spring when he would drive into our yard with a box of 100 chicks!  It would not be unusual, if we met him at the mailbox, to get a candy bar from him!  As one can see time changes things "for sure".

When I finish blogging I am going to get on Bentley for a short ride.  I am sure my back is good enough for that.  I have not been on the bike since the back went bad.

We are in for another perfect weather day.  High in the upper 70s with no rain.  I am guessing the state fair is going to be a popular place in its last full day.

Enough for this morning for now.  Maybe something later, not sure.  The FP is only half finished.
