TERRY
Terry is doing the same today. She woke up around 8:15 and as we get into the PM she had finished the paper, eaten a good meal and is watching TV. She did NOT wake up in the middle of the night for which I am thankful for!!!
No tennis today as the only court open was a 7:30 and one of the guys just can not play that early so a day of rest.
I have been to Costco and experienced the rush there as well as on the highways. I mean the traffic and crowds are unreal. I think they are much more than in the past. I arrived at Costco about 20 minutes after they opened and the parking lot was very full. I do not know what all the people need/want but I do know that Costco is pretty much a gold mine for share holders and owners!
We have a perfect day in terms of weather. It is sunny, a light breeze and temps around 80.
For some odd reason I just can not get Mom and Dad out of my mind today. I guess maybe it comes about as I see the crowds etc here in Naples. I remember one time they came to visit in St. Paul. As they were driving on I94 close to our place a black man in a car that passed them made a jester that was not nice. Mom was so afraid. I am guessing they may have not been going as fast as some!!! I think that stuck with Mom during the time they visited. Anyway I see the cars. I see the people. AND I think of them living in North Dakota and then South Dakota where there were more gophers and haystacks than people I would say! They maybe would have thought that there was a lot of traffic if they encountered 3 or 4 cars between Veblen and Clara City which was about an 8 mile stretch! I say that because they would often go there for a bit to eat after attending church on Sunday. In fact they were there at the cafe when the fire burned the farm down. Perhaps time for a short story:
Glenwood Minnesota in about 1957 or so.
There was a period of time when each summer family from the Twin Cities and family from around where we lived would gather on a Sunday for a reunion. Philip/Maye, Olaf/Mable and others from the Twin Cities would gather with us, Obert/Bertie, Arnold/Mulla (sp) and then all kinds of cousins would all gather and enjoy a day of visiting along with great food all day long. We would have a place right by Glenwood Lake and it always was a grand day for Mom. It was the one time of the year when she got to visit HER side of the family and it always was fun. On the way Dave and I would see who could count the most horses on their side of the car. I always sat behind Dad and Dave always sat behind Mom. We would leave at least by mid morning and get home after dark. Most of the time kids would put a ball game together and then swim of course. I think the reasons it was so important for Mom was we spent much more time with Dad's side of the family as Grandma/Grandpa were close and Halvor/Alta were close as well. A not so fun memory of those times is MOST of the time things happened that were more Lee than Sampson. That is funnies Mom's side of the family had something like a dozen kids and Dad's side had 4.
Well here it is close to 1:00 PM and it sounds like Terry could use some help or TLC as I would put it. Being bed bound is not the most fun place to be. I did have my FP and it as usual was very good and I did remember Terry as I arrived home from my shopping trip with a LG french fry from MacDonalds which she enjoyed. I will sign off and I think I will try to clean up some things this afternoon.
