Here we are at the first Sunday of the month, February 6th, 2022

 TERRY

Terry is about the same.  She was able to sleep in this morning so she got the Sunday paper about 9:00.  As I write she is reading.

Not a whole lot to say today.  Naples is in kind of a cool spell.  It is currently 63 and will only be 74 today.  St. Paul must be in kind of a different weather pattern as it will go from 22 now to 16 as the afternoon comes.  By tomorrow morning it is supposed to be in the minus range.

Nothing planned for the day.  I do not even think I will get the car out of the garage AND will not get on the tennis courts either.  AND tomorrow we got bumped off so no tennis until Tuesday.

So I may must settle back and remember!!!

Here you have the Lee boys + our CA cousin Lee Vikdal (sp)  He was Aunt Amanda's son.  The back row from left to right is Jerry, Robert (he died in a hunting accident when he was a high school freshman), Ronald, Lee and Marvin.  In front is Dave and Carmen.  Interesting as all the older boys have jackets on and Dave and I none!  I am thinking that was taken in about 1954 or so.

In the top picture Joan and Dave are standing in the yard with the granary behind.  I would say it was taken in 1948 or so.  The bottom picture is the same granary taken in maybe 1978 or so.  As one can see Dad did not really believe in repairing!!!  When I was growing up the granary was used to house the baby chicks, the coal that we had delivered, oil barrels for the machinery and kerosene for the living room stove.  Other than that there was junk scattered from room to room.  The small building in front was brought in from Grandma/Grandpa's farm when they moved and Dad used that for his welding and other tools.  One can see steel bins in the back.  Way way back in maybe the early 50s we poured a large cement slab and Dad put 3 bins on it which is were we stored harvested grain if we did not sell in right off the field.  Most of the time we did use the bins.  The light pole in front of the granary was installed maybe in about 1953 or so.  IT was a big deal to have a bright yard light that we could use.  I am glad I was not around when the fire destroyed the farm as I am guessing the granary went up in flames in a VERY short time.

Naples is an amazing place.  Here, even the hawks have wheels!!!

Here are Joan, Helen and Dave in 1951 I would say.

Well I would say that is it for today.  I will end with a salute to FP and then some thoughts.
  • As I woke up for the second time last night I looked at the clock which read 3:30.  As I kind of stumbled to the bathroom I thought it sure is good to be 75!
  • I was busy writing but got up to go to the kitchen.  As I arrived in front of the stove I thought, Now why did I come in here?"  It is great to be 75!
  • Well it is a good day as I got up to greet new experiences.  PJs came off and next was clean underwear.  Oh no, I think I put my underwear on backwards.  It is great to be 75!
  • Honey, I need to go to the store.  I have a list of things we need.  As I drove to the store I thought Naples is sure a nice place to live.  After getting a shopping cart I fumbled in all my pockets for the list but it was nowhere.  I grabbed my phone and called Terry.  Yes honey, the slip is right here on the counter!  It is great to be 75!
  • I arrived at the tennis court just in time as I needed to help Terry with some things first.  After our first round of tennis one of the guys asked, "Why do you have one sock on that is a different color than the other?"  It is great to be 75!
  • In tennis each player takes turns in serving.  Usually the server puts one of the ball into a pocket and serves the other one.  If the first serve is not good you then serve the second ball.  It was my turn to serve and my first serve was wide.  As I reached for the second ball I realized my shorts were on backwards.  It is great to be 75!
Well of course the list could go on for some time BUT I promise I AM GLAD to be 75 even if the mind goes south at times!!!
