A day in my Grandma Lee's family

According to the information I have on the calendar two of Grandma Lee's brothers were born on this day.  Bennie was born in 1904 and Sig was born in 1907.  I remember both well.  Sig and his wife farmed east of us and his brother Anfin, who never married, lived in a trailer house on their farm.  Sig and Virgina never had a family.  Bennie and Evelyn had a family of 3 girls and 2 boys.  One of the girls, Annette, lives in the Twin Cities and another lives near here in FL.  Sig and Bennie did not live long lives by toady's figures.  Off the top of my head I do not remember how old they were when they died but I am guessing in their 50's or early 60's.

I was wrong!  I posted a picture of canned peaches and said that my cousin Annette had given them to us BUT actually the picture was of peaches that Terry had canned.  I am not sure how I made the mistake but the credit for those yummy peaches goes to my wonderful wife Terry.

We had a nice time with Rusty and Lori last night.  The meal of Terry's potato salad, the beans and the grilled pork ribs was very tasty.  We did a Memphis style rib with a couple of exceptions.  I smoked them for an hour before turning on the heat to 325 and then the seasoning went on before they hit the grill whereas the recipe said it should go on AFTER grilling.  They were on the grill for 3+ hours and the meat almost fell off the bone.  GOOD  I should add that at this point I really like our grill/smoker which Terry was so kind to purchase for her home here.  NOT sure how I will do when we travel back to Minnesota.  I doubt the grill will fit in the car!!!

It was interesting visiting last night.  Rusty grew up on the east coast, actually Cape Cod was the place.  Most of Rusty's childhood was spent on, in and around the water and most activities took place outdoors.  Lori grew up in a city east of Boston.  Both places, of course, are far far from the prairies of North Dakota.  It is always interesting visiting with people who have such a different background than ones own.

It looks like a pretty quite weekend.  No tennis planned and so it will be mostly at home reading and maybe getting some work done.

I can see the bottom of my coffee cup which means the FP is gone and it is on to the work/play of the day.
