Welcome April 1, 2019

Day 159, "Every picture has a story"
Of course one could write a book related to home, church and school.  Oh, I kind of did that already.  Among the things I may write about or perhaps I have already are:

  • fall church bazaars
  • soft ball games at school
  • tag games in the cemetery
  • Dave and I ruining Mom's new linoleum floor
  • the creek in the spring
  • ringing the bell in church
  • the noon lunches in school with the government canned peaches
  • I had the same spelling book in grades 1,2,3.  I had the words memorized by the second grade and to this day I struggle to sound out words.  Thank God for "spell check"
  • ladies aid lunches in the church basement
  • shooting blackbirds with my 22 that Ronald gave me
  • bike trips up to the lake with a bar of soap and a wash cloth
  • playing ball against the south side of the barn
  • lying on the roof of the barn day dreaming as I looked towards the sky
  • walking to and from Wood Lake kicking stones and throwing rocks along the way
  • walking to the south end of the pasture in the summer to get the cows for milking
  • Christmas programs in December at church
  • charging out of the house at 7:05 to get to the school bus as Ray already had the door open
  • Sunday afternoons hitting the golf balls towards my sand putting surface near the mailbox
  • helping Dad shot feral cats at night as they hid under the granary floor
  • picking eggs for Mom
  • etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc
Pretty much the same team as last year but with 3 times the court wins, way to go team
Most of the guys came for the tennis party yesterday.  We feasted on burgers, brats, Terry's homemade beans and homemade potatoe salad.  Even the two guys who had dinner engagements later could not resist the food!  I had them fill out a paper about the season as well as some things about next year.  One guy said he did not want to be on the team in 2020.  I am guessing he wants to be on the 2.5 team and IF that is so it would be a good thing for him.  Everyone got a door prize.  They ranged from a $2 wrist band to a $45 half hour lesson with the pros.  It seemed that everyone had a good time.

Well today starts the "after tennis season" mode.  Oh, I was lazy and left some of the clean up from the party for today so will start that AFTER I finish the clean up.

Terry was really nice to me.  She took much of the left over potatoe salad to some friends so I do not need to eat it.  It is so good but of course it is not very good for the waistline.

It is April 1st and I always think of a friend, Don, whose had his birthday on this date.  He pasted away several years ago now at a "too young" age, maybe 63 or so.

Tennis at 9:00 today so maybe I can get some of the clean up done before I leave.  I still have at least a cup of FP to enjoy as I work.  Happy April fools to everyone.
