I am in the middle (page 510 of 960) of the book GRANT by Ron Chernow. If anyone is interested in the Civil War this is a must read book. I have come to a totally new perspective of the war, of the South/North relationship among other things. During the war 620,000 soldiers died, the most of any war before or since. Towards the end of the war it was costing the Union $4,000,000 a day!!! It is estimated that the war cost $6,190,000,000 and by the early 1900s the benefits to war veterans probably cost more than that. Don't know what that would be in today's $s but of course the money was not the point. The point was how it was fought, why it was fought and the repercussions it had even to this day. It also give a very detailed account of the man Grant. It is NOT a fast read but certainly a very good one.
Not much else today. I may work on my tennis serve a bit but not sure. I did use the ball machine yesterday and funny but ALL my shots were winners, I lie not.
Fun to see that the Midwest now has spring temps and I am guessing the snow in most places is only in the minds of people. That is a good thing.
My FP hit the spot as usual. AND also as usual it is now history so it is on with the day, April 25th.
As I woke this morning I thought to myself I had better get up and milk those cows but then it dawned on me we sold them about 60 years ago!
