The wait has been long and interesting!
- I started playing tennis in 2011 and after a short time developed tennis elbow so I quit for the winter
- In 2012 after about a month I pulled a calf muscle and had to sit out
- In 2013 I finally realized that there was no chance that I would be asked to be on a team so I started my own. I got hurt again
- In 2014 my team seemed to be OK but I was short of players. In February I broke my right wrist falling on the court.
- 2015 things seem to be looking up but my team struggled. We did add some players
- 2016, that was going to be the year but injuries hurt us and the team, even though there were glimpses of good play on the team it sorely lacked bodies and skill
- 2017 was the year. Starting in the fall we won all our matches and did the same in the winter. AND we had too many players. I guess a winner draws winners!
- 2018 we are there. We have divided the team and now sport a 3.0 team which should say we are better than ever. TODAY we play our first 3.0 winter match, something I have waited for since a long time ago.
- So what am I doing? Sitting on the side lines watching which I am not very good at. BUT it is what it is so I will make out the lineup, bring the snacks, drinks and balls and cheer the guys on. AND hope they do well. So many of the guys have really worked hard to improve so it will be fun to see what happens today. We did not do well in the fall but I could certainly see signs of good things ahead. Today will start our new story.
I had a tough day yesterday. My incision bothered me a lot so I took pills and slept much of the day. I think it is better today. I will make it over to the courts but not sure I will be up for the whole match. Sitting is painful and moving around is not all that easy. We will see.
Even though I am sitting watching life go by I am thankful for so many things. Life is good.
Hang in there! Cheer them on, bring the really good snacks and you'll be back out there when your body heals and it's time! I know it's hard to be patient but you can do it! 3rd day of house bound. Maybe I'll see some activity today.
ReplyDelete0 this morning temps will get into 20's then by Saturday high 50's! Yea! Maybe I'll be able to get to work tomorrow.
Just keep thinking how good it'll feel once it all heals! Love, Helen
