Some progress
Well there are some good things happening here on Niles Ave. Last year the south deck steps, which were put in 1999, started to decay and actually they became dangerous. So it was out with the old and in with the new. Of course we knew what would happen, now the deck looks worse than ever so not sure it was a win win situation! I guess it really is a win situation because I have not gotten to the point of wanting to forget about house projects and put a "for sale" sign in the front yard. In 1977 there was a hand made "for sale" sign in front of the house for a weekend before we bought it. In addition to that Mr. Ruth would NOT talk to a realtor, only to the people who were looking. We had our realtor call about the house and Mr. Ruth hung up on him.
We are thankful that Terry's finger is feeling pretty good. She will take the covering off today and then put a splint on it so she does not hit it on anything. I was concerned that it would swell and then some stitches would have to come out but she has done a super job of keeping it elevated. That is probably because the Dr. mentioned that to her at least 20 times!
We are looking forward to Mark and Mary Saunders coming this afternoon. They will come in about 2:00 and we will have a few hours to catch up before they need to be at the airport by 6:00. I talked to Mary yesterday and laughed at Mark's habit of getting distracted and not being on time. We will be ready by 2:00!!!
I sit at the computer in the den and look out the window. There are 17 houses on this block and there are three houses where the owners were here when we moved in the fall of 1977. Times change but I guess one would expect that to happen over the span of 40 years.
Our trip to ND and then to mid west states is now on hold for a while. Terry needs to get her finger tended to next Friday and besides that it would not be good to travel with that darn finger the way it is. We really have all summer so not a big deal. It does mean that I can continue to get a few things done around here and that actually is happening. I often get discouraged as I usually start the day by 6:00 and then work some times slowly and sometimes faster but really I almost always run out of energy by mid afternoon. I am doing something different for a few days and will see if that helps. Instead of eating a big breakfast I am just going to take some things that Cynthia does and see if less food and more supplements help. I do enjoy my eggs, bacon, hash browns etc in the morning but we will see if this helps. I actually took a nap two days ago but would rather not do that.
It looks like another nice day with temps hitting mid 80s and a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. The weather has been very nice but perhaps a bit too nice as the AC is usually going in the PM.
No I am almost out of FP and thoughts. I will take a load out to the compose today and then mow the front yard before M and M come.
