Morning of day 21

We carried part of the Dalton Hwy with us into camp!

Terry is above the Arctic Circle and I am below it!!

a stop at Coldfoot which is a one store town 75 miles north of the Arctic Circle and has $5.49 gas!
We are back in Fairbanks after a trip on the Dalton Hwy (known as the hauler hwy).  Of the 175 miles of hwy, about 75 is gravel/dirt/mud.  The other 100 miles is paved with one or two 50 foot spots each mile of dirt!  It amazes me each time we travel to these town that are on the map and I have read about.  For Coldfoot, it has ONE building and a gas pump.  We thought we would eat there Saturday night but then realized it was a buffet at $21.95 and it looked much less than an Old Country Buffet!!!  I know, that is  not saying much.  They did say we could order off the menu from 9 PM to midnight but we took a rain check and Terry made delicious toasted cheesers at camp.
We will wander down to Denali today and stay for a night or two and then head to Anchorage.  We do not have any specific plans for the next 3 weeks.
The daylight is somewhat of a challenge.  I would say the sun goes down about 10 or 11 and then it is bright bright by 6 or earlier.  If I need to get up during the night to take care of business I certainly do not need a flashlight.
I think we pretty much planned for our finances on this trip but wow, the cost of things is amazing.  Gas, well we paid a low price yesterday at $4.12, a meal in a cafe would be a minimum of $15 for the least expensive item.  I will not complain but.......
One thing is the same here, my FP coffee tastes great!
