The BIG birthday

Not much news but want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to sister Joan, the oldest in our family!!!!!!   From Geneseo, to Fargo to Salt Lake City UT she has made a most favorable impression where ever she has lived.  Is she beautiful--was homecoming queen in her senior year of high school, is she a hard worker--Osco drug would say yes, Fargo American Legion would say yes, the Fargo Forum would say yes and I am sure many many other places she has worked would say the same.  She and husband Ron have been married 50+ years, she has two great sons, two sets of twin grandchildren+ and before the year is out will be great grandma to quadruplets!!  I dare say nobody in the family can beat that or even come close!!  Happy birthday Joan and thanks for being such a great sister.  There is one thing I will hold against her for ever.  Growing up on the farm Joan, Dave and I often did the dishes.  Joan was the boss so she always had to wash.  Dave and I hated to wipe dishes but Joan would say she would give secret points for different dishes wiped.  She never told us before hand what dishes counted what points but in the end it usually was a tie---a fix for sure Joan.
Hope Ron makes this the best birthday ever.

  1. Well I'll have to agree with you on all of the above! There are some stories I could tell on my big sister but I'll save them for another time. She's always been there for us and will probably continue to do so even though taking on the role of the oldest wasn't easy for her. She'll always be special as are my 2 brothers that have mellowed with age and aren't mean to me any more!!! You really were at one time but I forgive you!:) She is definitely the best!
Hope Terry is doing better with each passing day. Milk shakes are good for building strength, trust me I've made enough in the last 6 months to testify to that!
    Love, Helen

  2. So glad that I have a special family, Brothers and Sister I love all three of you. Thanks for the compliments Carmen, I don't remember the points I gave when doing dishes, but I'm sure they were worth while.HA HA. I had a great Birthday Ron did a surprise party, which was fun and cheered me up, this Birthday was one of the hard ones, the only other one that was hard was turning 30. After turning 70 I can now sit back relax and enjoy the rest of them. Hope Terry is healing fast, as we are still looking forward to seeing you this fall. There are two state parks that we could take in, in one day. Love Joan
